The property is absolutely beautiful — a charming Provençal house surrounded by peaceful greenery, with a terrace that invites you to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. Breakfast was truly a pleasure: great variety, high-quality ingredients, and everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere across the hotel feels warm yet elegant, and the service deserves special mention. The team is attentive without being intrusive — friendly, professional, and naturally welcoming. One of the highlights of the stay is the restaurant led by Mathias Dandine. The cuisine is exceptional, and knowing that many ingredients come directly from the hotel’s own vegetable garden makes the experience feel even more authentic and special. Overall, this is a place with real character — beautiful surroundings, outstanding food, and a team that makes you feel genuinely cared for. We would gladly come back.
My wife and I recently stayed here for our 20 year anniversary. We had a lovely time. The staff were very warm and kind and the room was wonderful. Genenos is a smaller provence town so this was a great place to spend a few days as a base to explore the region. The restaurant was amazing. We did the 5 course menu which also included an amuse bouche as well as a wonderful cheese cart. We also did the wine pairing and were thrilled that we did as we tried some sweet dessert wines that we otherwise would not have. My wife and I agreed that the deserts were the standout of night even aside from the fact that we were already stuffed. My wife had an amazing chocolate taste and I had the Baba au Rhum which was unlike any other Rum baba I've ever had. While at the hotel we also enjoyed a couples massage that left us feeling invigorated. Throughout our stay we would on two separate occasions find the staff had left us gifts of fruit and pastries. I should also mention that we added breakfast to our stay and left each morning fully satiated and ready to start our day exploring the region. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a romantic stay in Provence.
Beautiful French country house hotel just 30 minutes drive from Marseille airport. From the moment you arrive you are in a comfortable luxurious environment. Lovely and peaceful with beautiful large terrace for dining and relaxing under the tall shady plane trees. As you would expect all the the food was delicious- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bed was very comfortable and room and bathroom were spacious. Great swimming pool. Outstanding service from the restaurant and bistro staff.
Set in an idyllic French garden with perfect ambient lighting, this Michelin-starred restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The service was truly some of the best I’ve encountered, warm, attentive, and refined, with a personal welcome from the owner that made us feel genuinely cared for. The ingredients were remarkably fresh, and the menu celebrated them with elegance and restraint. Highlights included a beautifully composed tomato appetizer and a standout lobster dish that captured the pure essence of the sea — delicate, flavorful, and artfully prepared. The outdoor seating was elevated yet relaxed, striking the ideal balance between luxury and comfort. We could have stayed for hours soaking in the atmosphere. We also stayed on the property and loved every moment of being immersed in the quiet beauty of the French countryside. The grounds were peaceful and picturesque, offering a perfect retreat after a day of exploring Provence. Highly recommended for travelers, romantic date nights, or celebrations with friends and family. A serene and memorable culinary escape in the heart of the French countryside.
(Review for the restaurant only) Very sloppy and disrespectful. I had booked a table at the one star Michelin restaurant for 31 December lunch, through their website. Talked to them by phone straight after to discuss several points, and they confirmed my booking. A month later they get back to me saying in the end they will not be open that day and thus my booking is cancelled. Of course, now the other couple of options where I had considered booking for that same date are full, so I am basically out of options. This kind of stuff should definitely not be happening at a Michelin star restaurant: terrible service before I even entered the door! (Update following a reply to my comment from the business) 1. In its reply, the business states: “Our Michelin-starred restaurant was indeed closed on December 31st for LUNCH”. Correct, that is the problem: you let me book a table at your Michelin-starred restaurant on December 31st for LUNCH through your website, confirmed this reservation immediately after I booked on the phone, and then later on decided not to open that day for lunch and cancelled my reservation (at this point, all the alternative options I had originally been considering were no longer available). 2. The business also states: “we had proactively contracted you to explain this and offer an alternative”. False. During a two day period I received contradictory information through an email and by talking to 3 different people from the business on the phone. Nobody could tell me whether my reservation would be honored or not. In the end, somebody contacted me to tell me it would be cancelled. The “alternative” offered was to eat at the cafe/bistrot, which is clearly a very different experience to eating at a Michelin-starred restaurant, and which I politely declined. 3. The business also states: “it is unfortunate that you chose to post a negative review without engaging with us further or considering the solution we proposed”. I did consider eating at the
On our trip during 14 days through Southern France we book this trip as one off - to splurge and get spoiled for 5* hotel. However, we were quite dissapointed. This hotel was not better or perhaps even worst then some of the 3* properties we stayed and pay much less money. |The room was very mediocre and nothing really special that would differentiate from the other less costly hotels we stayed. |The only beautiful thing about this place was the outside the restaurant seating especialy at night when beautiful lit
For a structure rated 5 stars, the only thing that reflects this rating is the price of the stay. The setting is exceptional, a Provençal bastide in an enchanting park, the staff are very welcoming and attentive, and the swimming pool and SPA are pleasant. However, our room was minimal, I think because we had booked on Booking, when the hotel was far from full. Our first shower was in a shabby bathtub with no shower soap because the dispensary had not been filled. Wardrobe, fridge in the bathroom (??), wifi that didn't work... you have the choice of sleeping with the window open, but then you won't get much sleep because of the frogs and other jackdaws that fight all night long. And forget the air conditioning, which dates back to the last century. Not to mention the soundproofing in the rooms... Breakfast is served from 7am, but nothing hot is available before 8.30am (??). If you don't want to take advantage of the gourmet restaurant, the evening meal offer is also limited, so you'd be better off walking to the village.
We have been staying at the hotel for four nights. Overall a nice experience, but the rooms are too outdated and do not meet the criteria for a 5-star hotel. Breakfast was great at 30 euros per person.||The main reason we are disappoined with our stay, is the quality of the 1 Michelin- star restaurant. A week before our dinner, I asked the restaurant to take into consideration that my wife is pregnant. One day before the dinner, I mentioned this again at the hotel reception and we were reassured that this would not be a problem as there would be plenty of options for pregnant women.||To our surprise, the restaurant had no idea how to handle this situation the day of our dinner. For the first dish, my wife received the same course as I did, but without the main ingredient: the fish. All that was left was cucumber in a bit of sauce (see photo of my wife’s couse compared to mine). For the second course, she received almost the exact same dish that was served to her as the main course. The only difference being that for the second dish, the veil (cooked: well done) was replaced by mushrooms. ||All in all we consider this unacceptable for a restaurant with a price range of ~ 200 euros a person. We cannot image that a Michelin chef was attending the kitchen the night we dined here. Especially with Michelin star restaurants, you would expect the chef to see it as a challenge to prepare something suitable, but creativity was absolutely lacking here.
