Categorical disappointment in the Winalist Côte Rôtie tasting. Minimal, extremely basic education and tiny pours of wine, five with different houses and vintages. Vintage differences with different viticulturs is very hard to ascertain what is the difference from ? We also each (a couple) purchased the charcuterie plate so as to have food on board. Tastings for those knowledgeable of wine involves swirling and spitting, absorbing very little alcohol. (Don’t try to tell me French alcohol law, I can safely taste 30 wines in the course of the day - I do not want to be driving influenced and certainly not over the limit - plus I am 1.97m and almost 120kg, been consuming wine for almost 60 years) 25ml pours don’t even coat my mouth. I can be responsible whilst consuming wine to taste and educate, I do no go to a prestigious distributor for them to assume that I am an irresponsible child who comes to become drunk. This was a premium tasting, difficult to book and treating us as if all we care is to be feeling alcoholic effect is an insult. It was extremely expensive for what it was. Elementary education, ridiculous pours of minimalist entry level wines - a colossal insult and waste of 165€. Positively - lovely room, apparently friendly staff, but the most insulting tasting ever (>40 this year) Response to owner: 18 October 2025 I expected more given the placement and prestige of E. GUIGAL in the Côte Rôtie, perhaps note my comments as to more respect as to one's ability to taste wine with a professional manner. That and just perhaps to offer at least one of these metered pours of a 10-15 year old Brune & Blonde to experience the same parcels aged properly at the same sitting. Our native USA hostess made no difference to us, she was very pleasant but almost overly so as if in presentation mode. I learned nothing new beyond the other brands wholly directed by E GUIGAL. I take my and our wine very seriously and although not professionally trained both my wife and I hav

We had a wonderful tasting experience for six at the Chateau. It was more than just a tasting; it went into detail about the region and the wines. I can highly recommend.

Top notch experience all the way. ***PLAN IN ADVANCE*** do not wander in as your experience may be good, but will probably differ from mine. I planned months in advance. Discussed what I wanted to taste and after some back and forth on options we came to an agreement and boy was it worth it!!! We arrived at a few minutes after our 9:45am arrival time and missed an initial tasting, but I'm not sure we were up for the wake and drunk experience so it was fine. They were nice enough to wait so we could head over to the cellar for the tour. My only request is air conditioning in the car ride over of a greater amount, otherwise the short trip was fine. I left a review of the cellar separately, but needless to say it was awesome. After the cellar we returned to the Cave for the tasting. Glasses were arranged out their outside tables in a beautiful garden setting. Walk around, its really great. Very impressed by the robot lawnmower. Our sommelier was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English to take us though all of the vineyard designated wines we were having as well as adding a few extras that we did not request just to give us a sense of all of their offerings. Did we pay for the tasting? Yes. Was it cheap, no. Did my friends who appreciate wine think it was a reasonable for what I got, absolutely! Most thought it was a deal. I did too. My wife appreciated the visit, the tour, and the wine. And the fact that they set up a reservation for lunch for us as well. Could not ask for more. (Le Bistrot à Vin de Serine if you were curious) You can order wines for shipping to the US, but everything is current vintage, no old vintages here. The tasting was amazing and not the usual one, but if you ask you can get set up with the La La's so just inquire in advance.

We had a super afternoon at Le Caveau Du Chateau, all of the staff were so lovely and welcoming. Particular praise must go to Rafael who presented a fantastic and informative degustation for us. He is incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. Thank you and also for taking us back to the hotel. Very kind.

Great experience for tasting and understanding of Brune and Blone stone where the label stated A must stopover at the shop as you would be passing by the infamous plot of Chateau d’Ampuis

We had a wonderful time doing the tour and a tasting here. We were able to see the history of the business from the lens of the family and the various acquisition. We visited the cellars and got a full view of the end to end process. The best, it ended with a great tasting of wines from the various vineyards. Thank you for a great tour! Recommend to all who are interested in wine from the region

We arranged to have a wine tasting here a few days before arriving to Lyon. The communication to make the reservation was timely, clear, and concise. When we arrived they were expecting us and had everything set up for us. We tasted Cote Rotie as we’ve never had that before. Wow was the wine amazing and our host was extremely knowledgeable about the wines we tasted and several others we asked about and his English was excellent and easy to understand. We also purchased a bottle that we’ve never had to take away and wow was it fantastic too. I would highly encourage you to make a stop here if you are anywhere near the Lyon area.
