This is a stunningly beautiful area. Lots of beautiful walks available on well- marked paths. The chalets are near to shops and restaurants and a ski lift that is open in summer. All staff, shopkeepers etc were very friendly and helpful. Very much a French speaking area - all the tourists we met/saw were French. A good- sized swimming pool is available free to guests. It's great because it's heated and covered(good for cooler or wet days) but the cover is taken off on warm sunny days. The views from the poolside are amazing! Access to this charming small resort is difficult but not impossible by public transport. It's well worth the effort though for the peace, the views and the fresh air.Nearest station is Veynes - approx 20km away. A taxi there is about 70 Euros. There are some buses to La Joue de Loup form Veynes and a few bus trips available from the Tourist Info centre in the village centre.
We stayed here for 5 nights and it was a really good stay. Best service and got a lot of help from Helina. She let us storage our stuff on day 1, so we could go ski and come back when the cleaners were done! She’s good in english speech! At the end we could stay in our room untill our bus arrived and that was a really good and nice service of her! ||||The rooms were clean, 4 beds, good bathroom and nice kitchen with a dishwasher!! ||||Thank you crete du berger and Helina for the fantastic stay!||||Ps. The view from our living room was amazing!
We choose this place and not the Devoluy because of the family atmosphere, and the tiny chalets. ||Because of the low price, we could choose a 8 places chalet for a 4 people family, 2 bedrooms was perfect. ||We had a wonderful view every day in front of the chalet. I can imagine it is far from the ski station during winter but for summer, it was perfect. a lot of nice places to visit near this base. I only regret the swimming pool was not warm at all , technical problem I learnt. ||I really want to thanks Céline and Laure ( in charge of the chalets ) for their welcome, these 2 women are so dynamic, helpful, smiling and really like to share their love of this country.
Basic, clean self-catering apartment. The rooms were warm and the view from our balcony was stunning and the only reason I managed to enjoyed our stay, however...the beds (choice of bunk beds or sofa bed) were inadequately short and basically provided a really uncomfortable nights sleep. I'm 5,10 so not an unreasonable expectation to be able to fit in a bed. Also, the room with the bunk beds was so small that they themselves didn't quite fit and were diagonally across the room taking what precious space there was. About an 8-10 minute walk in snowboard boots up a gradual incline to the slopes, 5 minutes to the shops and restaurants. This place is cheap though, if you're a midget that doesn't expect any mod cons and you strike lucky with the view it's a viable option but I think I'll stick with Hotels in the future.
When searching for a very low costs appartment for friends or family, these apartments are of decent quality.||Parking lot for car or tour agency bus is nearby, or you can park one car next to your apartment. Reception building is also simple but okay and the staff is really friendly from arrival to departure.||||Apartments have a nice view on the mountain, a small ground level terrace and a small lockable storage on the front to store your ski/snowboard gear. The apartments are very similar to same low priced apartments in other France ski resorts: lot of wood, not very clean and you can find many defect, missing items or damages inside, but if you don't care too much and want a very affordable apartment they are fine.||||What is very inconvenient is the distance to city center and first snow elevator. Its approx a 10min walk, especially on ski or board boots and carrying your stuff or groceries.||||Our apartment had many beds and most of them adult double or twin beds. Though the bunkbeds in 1 or 2 rooms were just or just not large enough to fit an adult comfortably.
We stayed in the one of the rooms here for a week's snowboarding in March.||The staff were very friendly and the view was amazing from our Balcony. ||||However, the apartment wasn't all that great. I had the bunk beds which didn't fit into the small room and was diagonally across the floor. The bed was also too short and quite uncomfortable, which lead to less than 4 hours sleep per night.||||The shower head was also broken off the wall and couldnt be attached.||||No wifi in the rooms but mobile coverage was fine and fast.||||Overall it was ok, like I said, the view was good with around a 10min walk to the bottom of the slopes.||Not a lot to do in the evening but staff and locals were friendly.||||I believe if they spent more on the rooms to make them really special they could charge more.
Room 2/214 We booked an apartment over New years eve and, considering that it was holiday season, we got a 4-night stay with ski passes for 3 days for a very affordable price. The apartment had a small kitchen (fridge, mikrowave, stove, kitchen utensils), a living/dining area, two bedrooms and a toilet and bathroom. Considering the low price we paid, the apartment was surprisingly clean and comfortable (the sofa in the living room could have been bigger though). We had to pay a deposit, but received it back on the day we left fully; as long as you leave the apartment clean you should not worry about not getting it back. Most surprisingly, the staff was very warm, welcoming and helpful and we were even allowed to bring a dog with us. The ski tracks are about 500 meters away and there is a large parking nearby. Bottomline, we were positively surprised and will surely return to ski and stay here again.
The chalets are oke. We had a 8 persons chalet so that was fine. You need to bring bedlinnen or you can rent it. The only negative thing are the beds. (for me) it felt like I was sleeping on a wooden board and for a week it's very painfull. The village is quite expensive.
