I tend to be cautious with multi-course Michelin-starred restaurants. Too often, the technique shines while the flavor falls flat. But Restaurant Le Pré truly delivers on both service and taste. It was the most memorable dining experience during my time at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, a two-star Michelin that genuinely earns its accolades.
Our experience at Hotel Le Pré in Durtol, near Clermont-Ferrand, was exceptional. After an unforgettable dinner at their two Michelin-starred restaurant, we stayed overnight in one of their five exclusive rooms, enhancing our culinary experience perfectly.||||Each room is thoughtfully designed with modern, meticulous attention to detail, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Our room overlooked the garden where the chef personally selects herbs for dinner, adding a charming connection to our meal.||||The room featured a spacious, comfortable bed, impeccable soundproofing for restful sleep, and an outstanding walk-in shower. Upon arrival, we were delighted to receive freshly baked homemade biscuits and bottled water—a thoughtful and welcoming touch.||||Every aspect of our stay was flawless from beginning to end. We highly recommend Hotel Le Pré to anyone dining at their restaurant, as it truly elevates the overall experience.
We had an extraordinary dining experience at Le Pré's two Michelin-star restaurant near Clermont-Ferrand. Choosing the tasting menu, we appreciated that the kitchen seamlessly accommodated the vegetarian member of our group with equally thoughtful and exceptional dishes. Every course was impeccably executed, showcasing perfect, subtle flavors enhanced notably by the fresh herbs picked directly from the chef's garden. This garden-to-table approach significantly elevated each dish, highlighting the chef's exceptional skill and creativity. The sommelier's recommendations for wine pairings were impeccable, thoughtfully complementing each dish and enhancing our culinary journey. Service throughout the meal was notably attentive and highly professional, yet it maintained a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, perfectly balancing formality and warmth. Overall, our dining experience at Le Pré was flawless and memorable. We enthusiastically recommend it to anyone seeking an exceptional culinary adventure.
The restaurant is fantastic and one of the most inventive and delicious ** restaurants we have eaten. We ordered the 7 course tasting and the emphasis on floral and delicious forest flavors (spruce ice cream!) Was wonderful. The breakfast was also incredible. The service was wonderful. The dining room is very beautiful. The rooms do not do the restaurant justice. They look nice. They aren't very expensive, but there are some issues. Our room had a window facing the road which made it rather noisy. It was also very hot. The floor was hot for some reason. Perhaps it was over the kitchen? The air conditioning was set to "efficiency" mode and turned itself to 23c at random times. We could not open the window because of the smoke from the kitchen. The rooms could very easily be made to match the quality of the restaurant by improving the ventilation, higher quality towels and bedding, and some kind of extra sound door to reduce road noise.
A two night stop on our way south, mainly to revisit the Puy de Dôme. Didn't realise it was a R&C hotel or that the chef holds 2 Michelin stars as I used Expedia for once. Both of those qualities speak for themselves so there's nothing I need to add, except the flavour combinations of the 8 course menu were the best I have encountered and the small team of staff were the most friendly and helpful, which says a lot given R&C's standards. The location functional rather than touristic but with the Puy de Dôme on your doorstep you don't need landscaped gardens.
This Michelin two star restaurant turned out to be one of the most memorable dinner I've had. We tried the 145€ seven-course menu and it was really truly worth it. Excellent creative dishes with enchanting flavors beyond description. The fact that the table service comes with a unique blend of professionalism, kindness and humor did add to our enjoyment. Don't miss it
Great hotel great atmosphere we had a great breakfast as well. Unfortunately we didn't eat dinner there but I hope we'll have the opportunity once again
It's very difficult to put into words how incredible an experience it is to dine at this restaurant. We went for the full tasting menu, which was €99 and roughly 16 courses. The attention to detail in this cuisine is world-class, and they more than deserve their 2 Michelin Stars. It's impossible to do the food justice in a short review, but some highlights include the signature dish of slow cooked egg yolk with smoked potato foam and truffle, as well as a dessert of chocolate done 11 different ways! Every one of my tastebuds was treated like a king. The waiting staff are wonderful, attentive and pleasant. We felt truly pampered for the several hours we were there. The decor and setting are superb, with tasteful modern art adorning the walls and tables, beautiful sculptures placed throughout the restaurant. Wine menu is second to none, with all regions of France amply represented. Wines are also available by the glass from as low as €8. If you are thinking of dining here, do not hesitate to book a table. Of course it is an expensive evening when all is said and done, but in my view the price is beyond the point. The team at Le Pré deliver a once in a lifetime gastronomic experience, and I have no doubt that it is one of the finest restaurants in the world.
