The hortinollages is a bit overrated. It's a good travel by the small boat upto the river sommes. A good way to spend time in this city but definitely not more than the amiens church and Picardie museum. This places is not well connected during public holidays and Sundays and so be careful while you go there . If you drive by car , it would not be a problem. But this places is much easier to get a ticket compared to other places for hortinollages visit. The people were very good and kind .

We really enjoyed our boat trip! We pre booked over text and found the place easily via the text instructions. Our French is shaky at best but the guide was helpful by translating some of the commentary to English which we really appreciated. The boat was comfortable with cushions provided and help getting on and off. The gardens themselves are lovely - really peaceful environment. It felt like a much quieter version of the boat tours available compared to perhaps some of the busier touristy ones nearer Amiens centre.

We really enjoyed the tour we did with Pierre! The environment is gorgeous and he expertly explains everything there is to know about this unique place. 100% recommended, it feels like a different universe. Looking forward to coming back!

Great visit with Zacharie! (En français - mais même avec mon niveau intermédiaire ça va ☺️) It was wonderful to see the canals up close, and the variety of wildlife and gardens. Excellent way to spend part of an afternoon, and easy to reach from downtown by the N1 bus, and even to return by the chemin de halage if you’re up for a walk.

You can't come to Amiens without touring the hortillonages on a small boat with a guide. It's not expensive and it gives a real sense of the history of the city. Very unusual experience floating through the undergrowth with wildlife, allotments and peacefullness all around. Our six French companions on the barque were great fun, laughter was the common language. All this was made possible by the two young French guides who were both friendly and knowledgable. Amazing team of people who really went out their way to help and make the ride more enjoyable. The location on Google maps needs to be more accurate. Anyone looking for the place - it is opposite the restaurant through a small gate into a park.
