Beautiful, quiet hotel, furnished with taste, as can be expected, given the fame of the owner. Very friendly and efficient staff. Everything is very clean and well maintained. However, for my taste, the videoscreen in the breakfast room clashes badly with the atmosphere of the place. Breakfast is very good, but slightly expensive. If one can do with a croissant and a cafe, then "Bar L'Europe" next door is a good option to see and be seen, and their staff is great, too.

I have the great fortune to stay at Hotel De La Poste D'Avallon between Christmas and New Year. It is a charming and well-run establishment. I was there with my wife and two young children. We found the rooms generous and well furnished. There is a separate bar and restaurant, the latter served delicious food. We also met the owner and his wife, who were dinning there and they were both delightful. The buffet breakfast was a fantastic spread to cater for all our tastes. We will be returning to this or any other of Julien's hotels! Thank you!!

Situated in a beautiful historic building, the hotel offers quiet luxury. The room was very well kept, with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive, and the restaurant absolutely fabulous. The city itself, which is right outside the front door, is definitely as worthy of a visit as the hotel and restaurant themselves.

A rare find. Everything at this hotel is considered and executed to perfection. Beautiful rooms, attentive and helpful staff and a proprietor who really cares about delivering a first class service. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We stayed at the Hotel De La Poste on our way down to the South of France. We stayed just one night which was a shame because this is a really stunning place. The room was so lovely, really spacious bathroom, spotlessly clean and with crisp white bed linen. The reception staff were faultless, as was the talented bar tender who mixed my husband 2 amazing cocktails - a Negroni and a Jungle Bird which he says he has now been converted too! The breakfast was simple, high quality and in a beautiful room, however I believe you can sit outside if preferred.|The whole ambience was one of calm, peaceful class. Just perfect, thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were thrilled with the hotel from the very beginning. It's beautiful and decorated with great attention to detail. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast delicious. I would also like to particularly highlight the friendly service and the owner of the hotel, Julian, who personally looks after the guests and is available to answer questions and provide tips. There's a spacious parking lot behind the hotel. The location is also very good, right in the center, surrounded by many restaurants and shops. The town of Avallon and the hotel are absolutely worth seeing. We would have loved to stay longer.

I went there in July 2025 with my mother and we had an amazing time. From the cocktails we had the first night with arrived. Made with fresh and unique ingredients from the region, I just want to go back and drink the abricot français. Best drink I ever had! We ordered a salad which was colorful and delicious. For dessert a strawberry tart. From beginning to end, we enjoyed every minute. The decoration of the bar is a must see as well, Mr. Cohen did an amazing job with a lot of taste. The second day, we had first breakfast at the hotel and we had two options. We went with the lighter version the continental breakfast as we had made reservation for lunch at their restaurant, “ le 1815”. For breakfast we had a basket with delicious French pastries, croissants and pain au chocolat. We also had home made yogurt, home made jams with fresh bread as well as mini crepes. My mum had a tea, they had a lot of selections and I had coffee. They have this really nice coffee machine in the breakfast room where you can choose the coffee you want. After that, my mother and I, we went to visit Mr. Cohen antiques stores, a must see. For lunch, we were back at the hotel to eat at their 1815 restaurant and my mother had the vegetarian menu and I had the fish à la carte. Everything was outstanding! You have to try the Kir crémant so good! Overall, this is a little gem. We will definitely go back as there is so much more to visit in this region and it’s only 2h30 from Paris by train.
