Its an amazing castle. So many things have to see inside the castle. Also u can watch documentary videos about castle history. Have an area for children too. Wc too in case if u need. Around castle also have lot of small house and between house small small streets. U are feeling yourself like u are in the movie while walking. There have a parking for cars. But its not castle parking , its private parking. It was fix price. If u have someone old with u in car who cant walk , its better let them front of castle , after u can go to park with your car to park , cuz park place little bit down side of castle. Also to go tower of castle , steps are small or some steps are high , for old people can be hard to go walk and go up to tower. Into castle it was a kind lady , she explained to us lot of informacion about castle. If u are around , u should visit it.

Wonderful castle ruin to visit. Fantastic photo opportunities! Not a lot of inside accessible, but the out side is spectacular. Be sure to go around the castle and enter the arrow shooting chambers! This site is also low traffic so we almost had the whole place to ourselves!

We were fortunate in having arranged to stay in a ‘gite’ right at the foot of the chateau. The castle is huge and majestic. Well worth a ticket to experience the interior and the views. Also can buy a combination ticket for another local chateau may be worth doing. There is a restaurant called ‘The Remparts’ near the car park which has great reviews

The Château Castelnau in Dordogne was bought by renowned french opera singer Jean Mouliérat and his wife in 1896. They renovated it until the 1930s when they gifted it to the French State insisting that all contents are saved. We really liked the beautifully restored wooden ceilings, antique furniture, and a striking bright red stone façade.

Fabulous castle/chateau, far more to see & explore here than initially thought. There's a deal here with another chateau close by (Chateau Montal) buy ticket's for both €14 pp. So we visited one, one day the other the next. Beware - nowhere does it mention there's a €4 parking charge here at Castelnau. There's a lunchtime closure at both, and no entry if arriving any less than an hour before closure. Oooooozing with history and stories of barons, fortifications, wars, and then renovation, there's plenty of exploring, with furnished rooms and towers to climb. Stunning views. Little gift/ticket office. Restaurant at the start of the pathway up to the Chateau, toilets etc. It is a little walk up, and gravel in the courtyard - just a thought for footwear.

Interesting castle, recovered from a run thanks to the investment of a theater actor at the beginning of the last siege, now managed by the government. The conditions are quite good, and it's interesting to visit, but don't expect too much as just one side with 4 or 5 rooms is accessible. The exterior, including the little hamlet where the castle is edified is lovely.

A beautiful castle, with stunning views. The walk up to the castle is a bit steep and inside the ground might be slightly challenging for anyone who's a little unsteady on their feet. From a distance and closeup, this is a very impressive castle. The views from the ramparts are fantastic. Inside, the castle is less impressive. As the price of a ticket includes a tour of the interior rooms, one might as well go along. However, the interior rooms, in my opinion, are nothing special - if I returned with friends, I would suggest they didn't bother with the tour. The tour guide only speaks French, but there are sheets in other languages.

What a lovely Castle! Filled with a stunning collection of authentic furniture and pieces, a treat for the eyes! Staff was very friendly and helpful and there's also a written guide to explain each room in your language! Plan to spend at least an hour and a half here enjoying! Also do climb the tower steps for panoramic views! Highly recommend!
