A truly beautiful and peaceful place to visit is the Château de Vizille in Vizille, near Grenoble. The area is full of natural greenery and is very well maintained, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy quiet surroundings. It is easy to reach from Grenoble Gare by taking the C13 bus to Vizille bus stand, followed by a short and pleasant walk through charming streets with lovely houses and views. After entering the château grounds, you are welcomed by wide open green fields, peaceful hills, and a beautiful river where ducks play happily. There is also a small animal area behind the property that children and families enjoy. The old château building itself is fascinating, with elegant architecture and rich history. Inside, the Musée de la Révolution française is open to the public free of charge. The museum is well organized, informative, and takes about 60 to 90 minutes to explore comfortably. The staff are friendly and cooperative, which makes the visit even better. Overall, it is a wonderful place for nature lovers, history fans, and anyone wanting a calm and refreshing day trip.
Amazing little town with beautiful gardens and a wonderful free museum on the French revolution in the château. A must see if you are in the area.
Beautiful museum. Accessible to visit with a big buggy - the lift serves most floors. Lovely grounds with a cafe in the grounds too.
A Must-Visit Gem for Art and History Lovers! I visited the Vizille Museum recently and was genuinely impressed. The exterior environment is absolutely charming — peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained. It creates a perfect setting before stepping into the museum itself. Inside, you're greeted with incredible works of art that vividly portray the French Revolution. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated and full of historical depth. One of the standout features is how well the museum captures the spirit and struggle of that revolutionary period (I believe around 1789, not 1984 😄). Highly recommended for anyone interested in art, history, or simply enjoying a scenic and meaningful experience.
very interesting museum that akso combined sightseeing inside the castle including dome of the older rooms. allow time to wonder the parc and absorb nature. Took tram and bus from Grenoble. with only 4euro return and free entry to the museum, just pack a picnic lunch and it a great affordable family day out.
Very beautiful building, expected the inside of the chateau to be better preserved, but it was still interesting to see. The garden is very big and very well kept. Visiting the chateau is completely free so definitely recommended if you're in the area.
A fantastic place to stop off and visit. The artwork is simply amazing, the grounds and gardens are beautiful and the chateau is simply WOW. It's free! And really makes you think about what we could have in the UK if it wasn't all national trust and granny gardens. If you are in the region, this place is well worth your time.
What a beautiful place, what a historical place, when enter the castle museum it feels like I come to old France during revolution. The most beautiful park along side the castle, it's one of the unique in whole country. If you are lover of history, must visit this place.
