Breathtaking gothic cathedral symbolizing the power of the archbishops who commissioned its construction in the 15th century. 100 meters long, 40 meters wide, and with two square towers 44 meters high, it is the last Gothic cathedral built in France ! A true artistic feat, the 113 choir stalls are exquisitely adorned with 1,500 scenes and figures sculpted in solid oak. The artisans have brought to life a veritable picture book. A 1 hour 15 minute guided tour is available, allowing visitors to admire them as well as the 16th-century stained-glass windows by Arnaut de Moles and the organ by Jean de Joyeuse, considered the most prestigious organ in 17th-century France! No two stalls are alike. Episodes of famine, biblical and mythological scenes, and legendary references follow one another to form a captivating frieze, allowing the choir to be ranked among the most beautiful in Europe. It is closed by a black and white marble altarpiece created in the 18th century by Pierre Souffron II. Its monumental 17th-century organ, with its 3,600 pipes, rises above the rose window of the facade. A second organ was donated by Napoleon III and his wife Eugénie. Also, its collection of 18 windows adorned with sumptuous stained glass, signed by Arnaud de Moles, a 16th-century master glassmaker about whom little is known. Effects of transparency, attention to detail in the creases and drapery of the garments, mastery of light and vibrant, warm colors that play with the sunlight: this ensemble, completed in 1513, surprises with its theme and hypnotic aura. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the cathedral is one of the essential sites on the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago). A visit to this admirably restored jewel, built with the golden stone characteristic of this part of Gascony, is not to be missed. To complete the visit, one can go to the Cathedral Treasury Museum; This is the interpretation center, showcasing its history and architecture through an amazing collection of

A stunning cathedral in the heart of the Gascon capital Auch. A great time to see it is during the Saturday morning market. You can mooch around the market stalls and marvel at the beautiful architecture of this Cathédrale Sainte-Marie d'Auch.

A UNESCO world heritage site. An outstanding cathedral with amazing wood carving and medieval stainless windows. Set in Auch, the capital of Gascoigne, there are wonderful medieval houses, a steep staircase that gives amazing views and a statue of D'Artangan as a tribute to the Alexander Dumas character who hailed from Auch.

Pretty massive building, very huge! Like the cologne Dom in Germany! Helpful guy got me a stamp in my Credencial. Not nice was the kind of merchandising the church did. Selling everything for a penny.
