Avis
A simple, but correctly equipped rural hotel, with superb views of the Rochet de Dabo. The couple running the hotel went out of their way to look after us at a large family get-together and everyone appreciated the meals we had.|The hotel is a bit off the beaten track, but that means it's dead peaceful at night.
Stayed one night on the way to Bellagio, Lake Como and one night on the way back from Lake Garda. The hotel is situated on the edge of a forest overlooked by a religious building of sorts that is perched up on a rock. This makes a fantastic setting and the hotel doesn't dissappoint. The rooms are modern, well finished and immaculate. It's run by husband and wife who were very helpful if limited in the english language. The food was traditional to the area, quite excellent and very plentiful. As you may imagine it's quite isolated, this did not bother us as it was just a waypoint , however other people may require more amenities.
Nice, but simple family hotel in the heart of the Vosges. Room was okay, complementary wi-fi and a robust meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was French (meaning poor) and the view to Roches de Dabo is amazing. It's easy going here. Nice, but quiet people.
The best word to describe this place is functional. It serves as a useful pit stop, but little more can be added to it.||||The beds were reasonably comfortable but the pillows were not. The bathroom was clean and the shower had a good pressure, but the room design meant the door of the WC opened towards the door of the bathroom, and both cannot be opened at the same time. We found this out when my partner left the bathroom door open, and I was trapped in the toilet.||||We had a lovely view of the Rocher de Dabo from our bedroom, and the forests beneath it. Also, the free high speed internet permitted us to catch up on work in spare moments.||||The reception staff was probably the reason why we shan’t return. She wasn’t rude, but she wasn’t friendly either. Above all, there seemed no effort in understanding our needs and accommodating our situation. We were in the region for a trail race and were wondering if we could extend our stay till mid-afternoon if we paid a supplement fee, since a shower after 3 hours of running would have been nice, but we were informed that no, it wasn’t possible. We thought about asking to leave our bags with reception upon check-out at 8am, to collect after the event, but felt somewhat intimidated and decided to just take our gear with us in the end.||||It may come across as trivial but when one is travelling for a sports event, there are plenty of other things on our minds to worry about, and while we understand that establishments have policies to abide by, it also doesn’t hurt to show a little bit more friendliness and understanding.
Little hotel in small village with meadows and forest around. We stayed in triple room - has 2 twin beds and adult size extra bed in a small appendix near bathroom. Bathroom and WC has windows. The room was clean but regretfully had no "flavour". Café on the first floor offers breakfast (8 euro), lunch (during 2 hour periods) & dinner.||Has good Wi-Fi both in the room and in dining area!)||Be careful - there is the hotel practically with the same name in Birkenwald (10 min drive).
OK it was raining and very dull when I arrived, so my first impression may have been influenced, but I felt the place was a little bleak. The reception was poor without so much as a smile. The room was dark with a bed that creaked so badly it woke me up every time I turned over. However th bathroom was modern and new. The food could have been pretty good, had it not been for the chef greatly oversalting everything (and I like salt!). Overall I wouldn't go back.
We stayed one night (would have stayed longer but for the weather), everything was clean and worked but a little tired. We eat dinner which was simple and very good. The bed was too short for me (over 6ft) and I do hate foam pillows. ||Don't expect too much and you will be pleasantly surprised
The location of this hotel is superb. It has a slight feel of ski type of hotel but the room was OK although bathroom was a bit compact but clean. The food was fine. Good base for walking and ideal stopover hotel.
