We loved this low-key, charming hotel. Affordable, clean, welcoming, and located walking distance from the St Charles train station and from the old port. We will definitely stay again on a future visit to Marseille!

The location of the hotel is perfect — right in with easy access to everything you might need. The breakfast buffet was another highlight, offering a wide variety of delicious, high-quality food to suit every taste.

The bedroom was clean and had a good amount of space. There is a nice outside terrace space at the back of the hotel to enjoy.||A couple of things to bear in mind. There is no safe in the room to store valuables. The hotel has no elevator, I was on the third floor and told ‘good luck’ with my luggage. The walls are very thin and I could hear everything in the rooms adjacent to mine including every time a door opened and closed. Although only 10/15 minute walk to the port, the area is very sketchy and I did not feel very safe as a solo female.

The location allowed walking to and from the train station with my rolly bag. I did not know that there was no elevator, but the staff took my bag up and down, which I also appreciated. The room was small yet functional. I did not partake in the breakfast, but 2 options were provided.

One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at. The staff is unfriendly and seemingly super annoyed by every little request/ question. The rooms were clean but small and with minimal equipment. The bed was felt like it was about to collapse. Not to mention the paper thin walls that made us hear everything our neighbour was up to at 2am. We also added breakfast (12€ pP) which was promoted as buffet - some cereal, some croissants but that’s it. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We booked this hotel after reading the New York Times Article “36 hours in Marseille”, where they recommended Boutique Hotel Azur. We could not be more disappointed in the quality of our stay. This hotel is tired, it desperately needs a refresh. When we first arrived, we were sent to room 4. The room was stale and the corners of the beds were stained. The air conditioning was not on, and it was as hot inside as outside (after traveling for 20 hours). The AC would not work. I wanted to leave immediately. I went downstairs and asked the man at the desk for a refund, even partial, and that we check out and find somewhere else to stay. He said “it’s not possible”, and insisted that the air conditioner works. He came to our room and tried. He said “oh you’re right, I will give you a different room.” He moved us to a slightly nicer room with functional AC, but the bed sheets had rips and stains and the sliding bathroom door required much muscle to open and close, and in the morning, the heavy trim piece above the door fell off. There was a hair tie on the floor that did not belong to us. We were mortified and wanted to leave so badly, but they would not refund us, even in partial. Not to mention the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the hotel. We stayed our full 3 nights, wishing we had paid more to stay in a nicer accommodation. I do not recommend!

Overall very good, but beware if you have a lot of luggage, there is no elevator and there is only one room on the ground floor. Also, the first room we got was only a tiny area and then a flight of stairs up to a loft bed. We asked to switch rooms, but then it was on the second floor so still lots of stairs.

Small and pretty loud rooms. Don't book via their website, you might never receive a confirmation. We ended up with 2 rooms instead of one by a miscommunication the Hotel could have cleared up by simply replying to our email or answering the phone when we called them. But they didn't, so we were settled with a late cancellation fee. As an apology, the receptionist offered us free breakfast. When we checked out, we were presented with an invoice for the breakfasts we'd had. P.S. If you don't speak french, don't bother, nobody speaks english!
