Plage de l'Îlet du Gosier is undeniably a beautiful little escape, but I can see why it feels a bit overrated once you’ve experienced the quieter corners of the island. The short boat ride over is a fun novelty, and the view of the turquoise water against the red-roofed lighthouse is iconic, but the "island paradise" vibe can get overshadowed by just how many people are packed onto such a tiny bit of land.
We were initally at the Plage de la Datcha but there was a lot or sargassum, so we took the 6€ ferry to l'Ilet du Gosier. Nice calm beach with clear water, no sargassum. Definitely recommend!
One of the best spots for snorkeling in guadeloupe, we saw soooo many different types of fishes. The water is quite shallow for a good amount of distance which makes it easy to snorkel and view sea life.
This is a stunning little island. Yes, it can get crowded, but still well worth the visit especially if you come in the morning and find a place on the west side of it. To get here, you take a boat from the peer next to Datcha. It costs 6E/per person and takes 5 minutes. It runs between 9AM and 5PM. On the beach there's a restaurant which serves great food. Its only drawback is the long service time. You queue up at 11:15 to select the food you'd like and make a reservation for later on. I recommend this as the amount is limited so you might not get what you want. So is the menu. The whole food is brought up by boat at 10AM. The north side where there's a larger stretch of sand is windy, the west is hidden between trees and it's perfect for pictures. The water is shallow and full of coral, so you might want to bring shoes if you're sensitive.
I think it is quite overrated. Forget the idea of an exclusive paradise island. There are a lot of people and the beach is quite small (you are almost walking onto each other to reach the sea). The first boat (9am) was 45 minutes late and the queue on the pier was obviously really long.
6€ to go to and from the island, a short 5 minute boat ride with the ferry from the pier of Gosier. Great vibes and snorkeling if you find the good spots with coral, worth a visit!
Nice plage, great views. Huge plus is the proximity of all the little restaurants and cafes of Le Gosier. The only minus is there's some seaweed floating in the water (that we have not encountered on any of the beaches on the western shores of Basse-Terre) and the bottom is partially rocky.
Great for families. Find the dock where you can hop on the pontoon boat get your return ticket for a few euros and enjoy the tiny atoll for a few hours. Avoid crowded days for best experience.
