Absolutely beautiful, well worth the detour. Lots of hikes and paths that start straight from the dam and parking, of many levels. I liked for a few hours....very helpful ranger team there as well at the start if you have questions.
Such an amazing landscape with this magnificent mountain of Sainte Victoire and its barrage. Many trekking trails to explore around bringing you into this Provençal’s landscape full of thym and romarin plants
Located about 20 minutes by car from the Old Town of Aix-en-Provence, this place is highly recommended for hiking enthusiasts. Although I wanted to visit Mont Ste-Victoire, I had to give up due to inappropriate footwear for the steep climb. Nevertheless, the scenery around the dam and distant views of Mont St. Victoire were beautiful. It's a perfect spot to enjoy with young children.
What a DAM. Great stop to see this marvel, or for going for a hike. Lots of parking.
Beautiful scenery with clear blue water. The path was well built and its a great place for hiking.
Nice environment for walks. Different walks/hikes available such as la croix de Provence (5km) starting from there. Swimming is not allowed.
Nice place to visit. Just outside Aix en Provence. Take some drinks and food with you and enjoy the scenery
Currently doing renovation work, the dam is closed for pedestrians during weekdays. The lake is also almost completely drained now (May 2018). Plan around this if you are hiking the mountain and/or want some great views of the lake. We unfortunately did not get any during our hike
