Le Rochebonne is no more. It is now La Madrague! The change has brought new menu and more style under its new ownership. Innovative and fresh menu in great setting.

We very much enjoyed our evening at La Madrague. It's simple: my wife swears it's the best fish she's had in her entire life. All three of us had three different fish dishes and I'd have them all again without hesitation. The tuna really gives the impression that it's a steak - perfectly cooked. Yes, it's on the pricier side. But I'd say you get what you pay for. It would likely be especially enjoyable on a nice day where you can make full use of the outdoor space right by the quiet beach in Angoulins. Plenty of parking spots available too.

It's a nice and cozy sea-side restaurant, combining modern and traditional French cuisine. I rate 4 stars only because I'd prefer a set menu (formule) instead of everything a la carte and a bit on the pricy side: expect around 40-45 euros for a 3 course meal (starter, main + dessert). Very nice dish of the day scallops.

A quiet evening in early April so atmosphere is not really something to judge. We stopped just for apero - a drink and a snack - and chose from the small but interesting carte. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and special mention must be given to the rilettes de poisson which, as I said to him, where not as boring as I had expected! Indeed, instead of the usual pot of paste as is the norm, we were treated to a lovely slab of rilettes which had been flavoured with herbs and spices and presented beautifully with pickled vegetables and etc. A real treat and encouraging for a return visit to eat properly.

My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant yesterday. The food and the service were to a very high standard. I enjoyed six oysters as a starter, a large portion of tuna and rice as a main course and the creme brulee for dessert. My girlfriend had whelks for starter, then a steak and fries, then a chocolate mouse. We were very happy. My girlfriend really liked that she could see the sunset from our table. The total price including three drinks was EUR59. We were very satisfied with the quality and the price.
