Avis
The third time I come to spend a few days in Arles during the opening week. I thoroughly enjoy it. Arles has a very special atmosphere, particularly at night.
Beautiful international photography festival. Too bad that to win the folio review you have to pay a lot of money. And to exhibit your photographs you must be recommended.
The Rencontres d'Arles should serve as a vital platform for emerging photographers—those who, while not yet established, are producing work of notable quality. In previous years, the festival has met this standard, but unfortunately, this year it fell short. Rather than showcasing well-structured and cohesive projects, this year’s event felt fragmented, with various artists’ works loosely grouped together without a clear curatorial vision. The result was a diluted experience lacking the depth and innovation expected from such a prestigious festival. Rencontres d'Arles should be a showcase for contemporary photography, embracing diverse artistic mediums. However, this year’s edition seemed stagnant, with a rehash of familiar projects and limited exploration of new visual languages. Aside from an overemphasis on artificial intelligence, there was a noticeable absence of the bold, experimental works that made previous editions so engaging. In summary, this year’s festival disappointed, losing the freshness and ability to surprise that are essential for an event of this caliber.
Great exhibitions in different buildings and places of the city
Interesting festivals, nice settings. Some security agents on some site were extremely rude which were very unpleasant when you want to spend a good time
The best photo festival in France (not to compare to Paris Photo). With the new art group setting up, it is a summer must to visit. Professionally run with excellent work to show in many abandoned buildings & churches
An innovative photography festival which always surprises with its eclectic presentations of up-and-coming and established artists from around the world. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the festival with a brilliant programming that sprawled in dozens of venues around Arles - most of them architectural gems worth a visit in themselves, while other buildings only opened to the public during the festival; a splendid way to explore Arles beyond its Roman heritage.
