Compact hotel on the seafront in Menton exceeded expectations. Beach (stony) just across thexroad, few minutes walk along the promenade to town centre with numerous restaurants if not availing of Hotel restaurant. Elegant contemporary (if typically french small) rooms, good aircon and compact bathroom. Complementary mini-bar (water, juices, Coke, Sprite savoury nibbles and even a beer) and lobby refreshments during the day an excellent gesture, surprising and much appreciated. Gym with 2x treadmills, weights machine, free weights, towels, complimentary drinks. Both private & on-street parking available (paying). Public transport runs by the door too. We only stayed the one night at end of our trip but it was very pleasant stay.

Positives:|1. Recently modernised hotel, with smart, bright interior and comfortable carpets. Good soundproofing, which was very important - see below.|2. Nice breakfasts, particularly the fresh croissants and yoghurts.|3. Free supplies of cake, soft and hot drinks all day in the lobby. |4. Restaurant on site for dinner.||Negatives:|1. The roads outside both the front and back of the hotel are very noisy most of the day and evening, with vast numbers of motorbikes on their daily commutes to and from Monaco. The soundproofing blocked most of the noise when all the windows were shut, but it meant we never wanted to sit on our balconies or the hotel terrace because the noise of revving motorbikes was so constant. I expect many of the Menton hotels will have this same problem; the local authorities could make the environment much more pleasant if they pedestrianised the road that runs along by the sea.|2. The rooms were small - just about OK for 1 person but would be very squashed for 2. They did not have an easy armchair for relaxing.|3. One of our rooms had no hot water in the sink and the other had air conditioning that only partially worked, even with the windows closed. We reported both these problems to the receptionist, who sent someone to check, but then insisted that everything was working as it should be.|4. There is a steep flight of steps from the street level up to each of the hotel entrances, with no access by lift, stairlift etc., making it difficult for people (like my mother) who have limited mobility or find stairs difficult.

Absolutely wonderful — will definitely be back! What a fantastic stay! We had a room with a sea view and it was absolutely breathtaking waking up to that view every morning made the whole trip feel extra special. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, always going out of their way to help with anything we needed. You could really feel that they genuinely cared about making your stay as comfortable as possible. Everything about this place was top notch the room, the service, the location. Honestly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in a long time. I will 100% be coming back on my next visit. Highly recommend!

I very much enjoyed our stay here when we visited Menton. The rooms were comfy and views were incredible. Reception was warm and welcoming! I enjoyed the lemon water available in the lobby as well as the cakes provided in the evening. It was a bit of a walk to Menton, but was not an issue.

From the very first moment she welcomed us with genuine warmth, and throughout our stay she remained consistently professional, attentive and most importantly solution-oriented. Whatever we needed, she handled it with a smile and made everything feel effortless. It is rare to meet someone who combines kindness and efficiency so naturally. Cannot fault our stay at the Prince De Galles Menton. The room was beautifully presented and clean with an amazing view over the sea. Staff on reception and at breakfast are very helpful and polite and really make the experience at the hotel great. Will definitely be returning in the future and it is a perfect hotel to stay at if you are visiting the south of France and places like nearby Monaco. Thanks for a perfect holiday.

Terrible location on the completely wrong side of town. Polite but awkwardly, superficial, impatient, sometimes snotty and detached personnel at the front desk with a surprisingly limited command of the English language. Horrible at giving directions to town, which resulted in hours of exhaustion and missed opportunities. They simply park themselves behind the front desk and wait. Typically descent hotel breakfast set up with lots of options; if you happen to enjoy loading up on fatty, meats and cheeses everyday. Packed together, elbow to elbow, back to back, like sardines; sharing your continental breakfast with strangers. Do not eat on the even more cramped terrace or you will be attacked by disgusting, filthy, pigeons, your entire meal. Our room was very nice and clean with all the amenities but then you are welcomed with orders to keep the thermostat on 22 degrees Celsius, as to, "Respect the Environment."

I had the pleasure of staying at the Prince of Wales hotel for one night, and it exceeded expectations in every aspect. The property is beautifully designed, showcasing a refined sense of décor that creates a welcoming and elegant atmosphere. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the impeccable attention to detail and the exceptional service provided by the staff—friendly, attentive, and consistently professional throughout my stay. The room was spotless and thoughtfully appointed, offering a high level of comfort. A special mention goes to the bath towels, which were of outstanding quality and added a touch of luxury. Breakfast was well-prepared, offering a generous variety of options to suit all tastes. Overall, this experience was nothing short of delightful, and I would not hesitate to return in the future.
