We stayed at Clos du Cedre for three nights and it was, by far, our favorite stay on a 3.5 week trip. Xavier, the owner, has done an absolutely beautiful job restoring this home/B&B. The staff, including Xavier, Paul and Sofie, were so welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful time talking with Paul about the area and sharing a bit of wine. Xavier has some beautiful art throughout the home and was able to secure us a tour of the studio of the glass artist that he features prominently. It was a fascinating look into what they do and we came away with some beautiful glass creations. I couldn't recommend Clos du Cedre more and I hope to re-visit this place and this beautiful town of Dinan again.
This was a small boutique hotel I would stay again and again if we ever went to Dinan again. The room we stayed was called "Juliette Drauet" over looking the park. Decorated tastefully and with care. Very classy and oh so comfortable bed and the shower was wonderful too.|||Now for the hostess, Anne-Marie was incredibly charming. She prepared the breakfasts every morning with freshest items on the table and made to order| eggs, etc. She is the woman I really wished I could speak French to get to know better but still, so warm and gave us the best restaurants and sightseeing recommendations that we wouldn't have known if it weren't for her. Marion, her daughter, wasn't around much but also very helpful via what's app and was our communication source||I would recommend this place highly for it was one of the best places we stayed and we have been to France now 6 times
It is becoming harder these days to find honest reviews of small B&Bs because owners care about their ratings and guests don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. But here for the sake of those who expect perfection based on the flawless 5.0 score, I need to say that after staying here, I simply don’t understand it. The one aspect I found truly excellent was the location, right in the centre of beautiful Dinan. But beyond that, it is certainly not flawless. Breakfast was disappointing in comparison to other B&Bs we visited in the region. Very uninspiring selection and presentation, and little attention was paid to refilling the buffet - at one point, when new guests arrived, the fruit platter contained just three sad strawberries and the bowl with nuts was empty. The atmosphere at breakfast was not pleasant - it takes place practically in the kitchen, with a radio on while the lady was loading the dishwasher a few meters away. A similar issue is in the supposed common lounge, which functions simultaneously as the management’s office, making it feel awkward to use while they’re working or checking guests in&out. At this point a big „compliment“ is due to the accommodation’s photographer, who very skillfully hid all shortcomings and was able to improve the overall atmosphere considerably. A good example for this are the pictures about the green areas, which can lead one to believe that the nearby public park is the property‘s grand garden. The actual garden unfortunately didn‘t feel like a true guest space - with the owner treating it as his personal lounging spot anytime we looked out from the courtyard windows. The experience therefore felt more like staying with a host family rather than at the luxury B&B as clearly advertised. Our room was fine, but there was nothing particularly exceptional or outstanding about it. Overall, our experience was a 3-3.5 out out 5, certainly not more.
Fabulous experience. This was the best room and hotel experience we had on our trip. The staff made us feel like family and the owner, Xavier, was inspiring sharing his vision for the restoration of this beautiful property. I highly this hotel.
An incredibly lovely, well-designed hotel in a medieval town in Brittany. Anne-Marie, Xavier, and the rest of the Clos du Cèdre team really make you feel at home. The breakfasts are delicious and the whole place is redolent with cedar wood, beautiful artistic pieces, and high-quality products. Definitely will stay again when we're in the area.
An beautifully designed hotel, in the perfect location - a very comfortable room with a wonderful bath, 2 balconies with a perfect view of the gardens, breakfast was excellent with great attention to detail, delicious homemade jam and very good quality black Earl Grey tea. Highly recommended! Merci beaucoup Anne Marie & Xavier!
Our stay at Clos du Cèdre was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and hospitality that it instantly felt like home. Every corner of the property is beautifully designed, combining elegance with comfort in a way that creates a genuinely special atmosphere. Our room was absolutely stunning — spacious, thoughtfully laid out, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail, from the luxurious bedding to the stylish decor, showed such care and attention that it made our stay feel truly indulgent. Breakfast each morning was a highlight: a delicious spread of fresh, high-quality products, served in a beautiful setting. It was the perfect start to the day and really showcased the thoughtfulness that runs through every aspect of the experience at Clos du Cèdre. Parking was a bit annoying - it's located a few minutes walk from the property, which is not great when it rains. It can be used only after checkin, so you have to pay for parking if you get there early. Overall, the design and feel of the entire place, the incredible hospitality, and the impeccable comfort made this one of the most memorable stays we've had during our France visit.
We spent two nights at this very high quality chambre d'hotes in October. Our room was beautiful, lovely fixtures and fittings, comfortable bed, quality linens and well equipped shower room. The owners are charming, very welcoming and helpful in every way. The breakfast which comprises home made and local produce was delicious. We would highly recommend staying here and will definitely return. (Two observations which might be helpful with regard to accessibility - the secure parking is a short walk from the property and the rooms are set on three floors with no lift available.)
