Super friendly service. We walked in last night and was able to comfortably sleep last night after eating their delicious food in the restaurant. Kid friendly too.
What at first seems like a simple, no-frills hotel, is at second glance a very pleasant lodging. Well located in a quiet street, relatively modern with lots of wood (as the name would imply) making for a cosy ambiance. The room was somewhat dreary and not very well furnished. The beds were a bit on the hard side, but for a 2 night stay not a problem. The welcome was especially friendly and the staff were most helpful during our stay as well. Nice breakfast buffet and an especially attractive restaurant. We ate there twice and were very pleased with the meals, as well as the opportunity to try some Côte d'Auvergne wine. We used Brioude as a base for touring the area and seeing the medieval churches and abbeys in the region. We can certainly recommend this hotel when in this historically rich region.
Absolutely beautiful, exquisitely restored 400-year-old French chateau. The rooms are open, and quite lovely. The dinner was outstanding serving regional cuisine. They offer a demi-pension which is quite generous. The staff is wonderfully accommodating!
I can't recommend this popular, family-run hotel too highly. It is in a beautiful part of the Auvergne and is excellent value for money. My room was both spacious and comfortable and had its own balcony. The staff were very kind and made my trip to see my daughter and her friends a great success. Be sure to book a table for dinner, the food is wonderful!
Had booked ahead based on French hotel/restaurant guide reviews and wasn't in the least disappointed. Assigned a very good sized ground floor room with mini-patio. Staff were very helpful in ensuring we had a room that we were satisfied with. Nice, quiet dining area to the rear of the property where we were able to have a drink on arrival. Very good food, very popular with locals. Helpful if you can speak French (no other British cars in car park). Brioude isn't an obvious tourist/holiday spot but staff were more than willing to supply me with information about the principle sights and places to visit in the area and it seems there is plenty to keep one occupied.||||Compared to a lot of hotels in France, La Sapiniere offers very good value. Food and wines were all reasonably priced. The rooms are very good for the price, breakfast (buffet) is also excellent. Definitely worth a longer stay.
Lovely, large, individually decorated room in typical French style, large bed, sofa, coffee table, large TV, great bathroom, mini bar, patio area (as we had a ground floor room) but 1st floor rooms had large balconies. Beautiful grounds, outside seating, nice pool/spa, large car park which is locked at night. Very quiet location out of town, but an easy 5 minute walk to the centre.||A warm welcome from very friendly enthusiastic staff/owners who clearly love their hotel, work extremely hard, and keep a lovely ambiance around the place. Some English spoken so no great communication problems.||On the 1st night we stayed ( a Monday) the restaurant is not open, but we were told that their sister hotel ( Le Poste) in town, would be available to us. What a massive surprise we had because behind the plain exterior, on the first floor there is a buzzing, foodies paradise that served us a fantastic 5 course set meal for £20 euros each!!! We were very well looked after by none other than one of the owners who had welcomed us at the main hotel earlier that day (as I said, they work so hard!) and the elderly gentleman in charge of various things including the cheeseboard, was a fantastic character. Great breakfast, nothing was a problem for them and I would stay there again and again.||The town by day was great with a mix of history and modern, lots of little cafes, bars, souvenir shops, squares, narrow cobbled streets , and some very helpful smiley people.||We stayed at 6 hotels over a two week period travelling to and from Villefrenche and this was overall one of the best.
We arrived resembling drowned rats after being caught in a downpour on our bicycles during a family cycling holiday. A safe place was found for the bikes and we were able to relax and dry out in the lovely ground floor rooms. The boys really enjoyed the indoor pool. We had a brilliant meal in the restaurant which was busy all evening with locals as well as hotel guests. They were able to accommodate a gluten free meal for one of our sons. It was more expensive than most of the places we stay (usually B&B or hostel) but ideal in the event.
A slightly odd place, I guess a conversion of an old building, but mostly new construction. There was ample parking, and a friendly receptionist who showed us to our room. There is no lift and most rooms are on the ground floor, but ours was up a flight of stairs. It was a large room with a large bathroom fitted with two wash-basins and plenty of towels etc. There was no in-room safe but it had air conditioning, though we didn't need it. The main drawback of the room was the poor lighting - one dim floor standing lamp plus bedside lights was just not enough to allow comfortable reading after sunset.||||We had dinner in the restaurant which had two fixed-price menus with a couple of options for each course, but one could mix and match, giving a reasonable choice. The food and service was good. The buffet breakfast had a reasonable choice of juices, good pastries and jams, some fruits.||||If we need to stay in this area again, we will come here again.
