Ruins of a Roman Domus or town house. The ruins are extensive but there is relatively little to see today except for some walls and foundation. There is a scale model and a CGI documentary to help the modern visitor visualize it. I believe they recently found a mosaic there but it is not accessible to the public at present. There is an interpretive center and gift shop on site.
Hi, we went to the guided visit at 10h30 perfect timing in summer... We loved it nothing really professional but rather local: cool and warm. Our guide, also basically in charge of everything for this site was friendly helpful and very knowledgeable on this period.. Our 2 kids 9 and 12 keep a good memory of this +- one hour visit.
Mixed feelings about the place. On one hand you will see a fantastic Roman villa, excavated and well protected, but on the other hand you will get no information in English. All the additional explanations around villa are in French, the same about the museum in old railway station. However here you may ask for a pack of translated texts. When I was there it looked like a lady from a reception didn’t know they have it
Very interesting and informative. The panels round the site describe how a town is laid out, the instruments used and finally how each plot is divided up and sold on first development. Amazing these Romans
A Fantastic Roman Town House excavated and charted and displayed from settlement, to boom period and expansion, to fire and collapse, dark ages, then bricks being robbed for creating the local Church. Wonderful. And a Huge Treasure with Gold and Jewels is displayed in the sister museum up the road. In a big vault for security.
If you are a tourist in the region, this a new place to visit. Modern, informative, original.
Excellent moment !
