Stunning! Amazing historical Castle and the old town surrounding it alongside to River Aude in Carcassonne. Spectacular views from all angles in the Château. Good walking shoes needed for all the stairs if taking on the fortress wall walk! I pre-booked my ticket. No wait as it was mid- late afternoon.

The castle is beautiful, from the outside. 19 euros to go inside it is not worthy. Inside, there is absolutely nothing to see, only concrete walls ... not worth the price. They didn't even put clothes and things from the period to see ...

Brilliant day out. Decided to pay the extra for the headphones and it was well worth the extra as it told stories about the history which wasn't displayed elsewhere. Lots of food choices and little shops to explore.

📍 Château Comtal – Carcassonne 🏰 Absolutely beautiful! Visiting the Château Comtal was such a highlight of our time in Carcassonne. The castle is incredibly well preserved, and walking through it really feels like stepping back in time. We loved exploring the ramparts and towers—the views over the old city and surrounding area were stunning. The whole atmosphere is magical and full of history. Everything was well organized, and it’s definitely worth going inside, not just seeing it from outside. A truly memorable experience and a must-visit when in Carcassonne ✨

Walled city with plenty to do, see and eat. Walked inside and outside the city. Several close car parks which can fill up in easily. Canal offering boat trips.

The castle within the medieval city is a must visit, it is included with the wall (ramparts), walk, there is a bit to see spread out, however, an enjoyable experience.

Visiting here was an experience with zero regrets, entering the city immerses you in a medieval setting. Came here during the 25th anniversary of the Carcassonne board game for a weekend and had the best time. Highly recommend visiting the city and exploring it for yourself, don’t forget to try cassoulet!

A must see if you are visiting the medieval city La Cite in Carcassonne. The ramparts walk provides some spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and La Cite itself.
