Better than expected as it was a video type tour with Renoir giving the summary of his painting done at the location.
What an excellent museum! The people are so friendly and it was a joy to see all the work done in a little museum. What beautiful surroundings.
I enjoyed the presentation much more than the virtual reality presentation at Musée D’Orsay. Fournaise’s Renoir gave me the same sense of the reasons for the Impressionist Exhibitions in a business sense, but I also got an excellent understanding of Renoir’s painting technique, joie de vie, and commitment to his art. An easy ride on the RER and a short walk across the bridge to the Rue du Bac. Excellent and highly recommended!
La maison Fournaise in Île des Impressionnistes, is a former ''guinguette'' located on the Island of the Impressionists, in Chatou, just outside of Paris. It is a quite unique place, in fact a restaurant and museum. It is considered also a museum, due to its history connected with the impressionists. It is a must-see by Impressionist lovers. I recommend you to combine a visit to Giverny (the house and the gardens of Monet) with a visit and a lunch at La Fournaise, in a full day memorable tour. La maison Fournaise is worth a visit and a lunch ! 4 stars for food and 5 stars for atmosphere ! Recommended to go only in late spring, summer and early autumn. Address: 3 Rue du Bac, 78400 Chatou. Open: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10 AM–12:30 PM and 2–6 PM. Saturday and Sunday 10:30 AM–1:30 PM and 2–6 PM. Closed on Monday and Tuesday. Enjoy it !
Very nice show about Renoir with friends.
The Island of the Impressionists where so many beloved works were painted. The restaurant Fournaise, restored, is open. The musee presents a film about Renoir, his methods and thoughts.
For those who love history and paintings this is a must visit. To learn the history and experience the life of the famous painter A. Renoir through a beautiful series of well documented holograms
This is a small but rich and informing museum. The scenary outside is beautiful too.
