I booked for a day between May 4th to May 5th around 11:40pm yesterday. I was not able to find the check in time on the Hotel Le Foch website. Because I just missed my last train to Dijon and I was trying to find a taxi but that was not possible so I booked as fast as possible without knowing when is the check in time. I thought it would be fine because it is a ‘hotel’. I just wanted to find a place to sleep quickly When I arrive I don’t know why the door is not locked when there was no staff to give me the keys but I stayed there. So I slept around the chair and sofa until 5:30am and I took the first bus to Dijon I asked for a refund by phone. He said it is the fault of the website where it linked to booking this hotel not the hotel. Okay, why don’t you then ask the website company to refund to you and refund to me? Then he said he doesn’t understand my English. And he says this is my mistake not looking at the check in check out time carefully. I checked the official hotel website but I couldn’t find the check in and check out time. He said it is my fault not checking the check in time. This is not what hotel owner(patron) should be saying as offering a hotel service to people

I was really looking forward to my overnight stay at Hotel Foch in beautiful Beaune. The website photos of the outside and communal areas look so enticing and the decor individual and creative. It was clear from the photos that the rooms were going to be pretty basic and mine definitely was. I wasn't expecting much for 60 euros a night so it wasn't a shock that my room looked worn out and threadbare - I've stayed in worse! |On the positive side, the location is about as perfect as it gets. Yes, there's a busy road but it didn't disturb me (unlike the coughing and talking coming through the thin wall to the neighbouring room) |The evening I arrived, the bar was buzzing, it seems it's a locals hang out with a nice atmosphere. I was expecting a 10 euro breakfast and even had an email confirmation that this would be provided but in the morning the nice lady said that there was no record of this. I think perhaps there may have been a misunderstanding when I arrived. The guy behind the bar was very busy and I think he asked me if I wanted dinner but maybe he was checking if I wanted breakfast. Hey ho.|I wasn't actually that disappointed though as the bar area was very quiet at 8am with just a line of silent people sitting up at the bar on stools. A bit spooky to be honest!|This place probably was (and still could be with some investment) a really cool little hotel but for now, best be mindful of the maxim "you get what you pay for"

We stayed only one night, so it was okay for us. The rooms are clean and good for sleeping. The bathroom was old. But the owner really tried to build a nice surrounding. From the outside it looks not so nice when the bar is closed. But the location is perfect if you want to head into the city.

Very friendly host. Nice breakfast. Hotel and room are a bit dated but it feels very cozy. The hotel is lokated in the middle of the nice village. So if you don't want to stay in a large hotel, this is a great place to stay. We stayed one night on our way to the Cote D'Azur.

Travelling throughout the Burgundy area of France for two weeks on a budget was a great experience. |We arrived at the hotel around 11.30pm. We were met by the owner who was very helpful and took our luggage from us, so we could go off and explore.(The hotel closes for around an hour in an afternoon). It's located on the main road going through Beaune and is a 5 minute walk into the old town.|We went back around 4pm. You're immediately drawn into the quirky objects that fill the bar/restaurant area, but it creates a lovely atmosphere. The bar had a few locals in and I will say only 1 person in there spoke English. (As I speak French, this wasn't an issue, but to be noted).|Our room was on the top floor, very basic, but clean, large opening window over the courtyard at the back, small bathroom and a fan which came in handy!|We were travelling on the next morning and the owner booked us a taxi to take us up the road where we were meeting friends, which was helpful. |We came back quite late and used the entrance at the back of the hotel which was well lit and I didn't see an issue with it being open.|We ate at the restaurant next door, which was nice. (I'll do a separate review).|We had a good nights sleep, the bed was comfy, shower was a good pressure and then we came down to a simple but nice breakfast with croissants, jam, yoghurt, fruit and coffee. |All in all, a good stay for the price which was £63 for one night. |I would definitely go back and I would recommend for a short stay on a budget. |(Taxi driver turned the meter off and chose to charge us 20 euros which was disappointing!)

The proprietor of this establishment is an aggressive and problematic individual.||||I say this because on numerous occasions I, my partner, and my friends who all live in and near Beaune have had less than satisfactory interactions with him. On multiple occasions he has overcharged me and my friends for drinks. He does this to both French and non French speaking people, but if you are a tourist then stay well clear of this place. I am not a native French speaker and tonight the proprietor hurled insults towards me because he thought I was a tourist. Often, when I frequent his establishment he had been so drunk that he doesn’t remember me the next time. Tonight, when I returned to the bar to order another round of drinks and did not return the glasses, (that we were still drinking from at the table) he became irritated with me and started shouting and complaining towards me. I apologised and brought our used glasses back to the bar so he could re-use them. I paid for the drinks and thought that would he the end of it, but he continued to escalate the problem and began to insult me in French because he thought I did not understand him. Once he realised my partner spoke French and she explained to him we were not in fact tourists and we live in Beaune he realised his mistake. He called me derogatory names and because my partner is a woman he felt like he could intimidate her and scream insults at her.||||Never in my life have I been a customer of a bar where I was required to bring my glass back to the bar in order to get another drink. We never had to do this even here in this sad excuse for a bar, prior to this evening. The proprietor targeted me because he has a clear issue with people who are not French, there was another group of people in the bar who left all of their glasses on their table, he had no problem with this because they were French.||||I wholeheartedly implore you not to stay in this establishment and do not drink in this establishment. If you are lo

That’s a nice place. BUT! We had check in at 15:00 and we came 14:30 just to check documents and maybe put stuff earlier, ask if room is ready… we had travel 5.5 hours that morning with car. So when we came we saw closed hotel! All windows closed, door is closed. We knocked for 10 minutes but nobody opened. We called phone, same. We called to booking and 25 mins later they said “hotel is open”. So hotel opened at 15:01. Is it normal practice? Like you expect gusts at 15:00 and till this time you completely close WHOLE hotel and you don’t give a **** if people actually can come a bit earlier :) Like…. It’s hotel. People expect just come here from long trip and don’t sit on the street with their baggage. Room is clean, guy was very friendly, we slept very very good, bed comfortable. -1 star because of “check in” process. I can imagine very small hotel but put a sticker on the door! “Will open at 15:00”, or “call this number”… whatever. Because this looks scary when you come from far and see closed hotel and you don’t know what to do, search for at other hotel or wait?

It has charm, it’s authentic (ie not tarted up like some magazine photo) it has basic but comfortable rooms, decent beds and sheets and friendly staff. The liberally sprinkled antiques littering the bar and stairwell are a hoot. Don’t believe the auld grumps who diss this place in other reviews, what were they expecting for the price? It’s a way-station. It does just what it says it’ll do. And rather well too.
