A very peaceful place and far less overcrowded than many of the more famous châteaux. I noticed that some visitors mentioned being disappointed by the amount of contemporary art, but personally I found the combination of historic charm and modern elements very well balanced, even though I am not usually a great admirer of contemporary art myself. We also wanted to visit the village down the hill, and since there are two entrances to the estate, the staff kindly explained that we were free to leave and return at any time. They provided us with special bracelets for easy re-entry, which was a very thoughtful touch.
Elegant historic castle beautifully blended with inspiring contemporary art. The gardens are extraordinary, featuring designs from artists around the world creating diverse atmospheres. A truly memorable visual and sensory experience.
Late opening at 10:00. Parking signs are minimal. I went to see gardens and was disappointed. 80% art. Gardens are good for children. Even the chapel was littered with some sort of art.
What a magnificent domain. Not as famous as Chambord, Blogs, Amboise etc, but truly beautiful. In between Blois and Amboise, it's defined worth a visit. The grounds and the castle are very beautiful, and the combination with art exhibition is spot on. Not to be missed
I would say Domaine des artes. You can see all the photos of chateau and gardens everywere, which is amazing, but every year they are hosting garden festival and art exhebitions which is worth to see and visit every year!
The chateau from the outside looked amazing and to the time period. However, the inside had to much modern art. They had a very large room on a higher floor with a wall that resembled a large scoreboard. This displayed different images with many lights and colors. Way out pf place, took up a huge space, and looked like a terrible investment. The grounds were stunning with the leaves changing to fall colors. We also enjoyed the stables and the displays located there. It was not busy at all when we were there. Throughout our visit there was the same lady in just about every room we visited. We thought she was just another tourist. In the end we found out from another tourist that she worked there. Very odd experience, as we felt we were being watched and not trusted. Beautiful place but very strange vibe.
Top top top! I visit castles for 2 decades now, but what congrats to the owner and team of Chaumont, they made this place extraordinary! This is now one of my favorites (together with Villandry). If you have a flair for gardens, this is your place to visit. Plan enough time (4-6 hours) as in summer 26 they have the festival of 50 (!) gardens, and a art exposition, besides the castle itself. I enjoyed it very much and can recommend this place to anyone!
There are too many strange exhibits—that is probably why the entrance fee is so high, at 21 euros. I was disappointed by what I saw. I do not recommend it.
