Our recent stay at Hôtel À La Cour d’Alsace in Obernai was a very pleasant experience. We drove from Germany and found the hotel relatively easy to locate despite its position within the historic town center. The narrow one-way street leading to the property is clearly signposted, and guests can either drive directly into the hotel courtyard for check-in or use the conveniently located parking area just before the entrance. The check-in process was smooth and welcoming. The receptionist spoke both English and German fluently, making communication effortless, and personally guided us to the entrance of our building. This thoughtful touch immediately set a positive tone for our stay. The hotel itself is charmingly laid out, with rooms distributed across several interconnected buildings. We stayed in the newer section adjacent to the swimming pool, which proved to be an excellent choice. Given the unusually warm weather for late May, with temperatures reaching 31°C, the built-in air conditioning was greatly appreciated and ensured a comfortable stay throughout. Our Deluxe Room was spacious, well-appointed, and thoughtfully designed. We particularly appreciated the separate shower and toilet areas, with the washbasin located in its own dedicated space. Practical amenities included a safe, an empty refrigerator, approximately ten clothes hangers, a hairdryer, a well-lit mirror, and a magnifying mirror. Bathrobes, towels, and slippers were also provided, making visits to the swimming pool convenient and enjoyable. There were a few minor drawbacks. No iron or ironing board was available in the room. Additionally, the lighting controls were somewhat unconventional, using touch-sensitive switches that occasionally behaved unpredictably. A few ceiling spotlights were not functioning; however, the room remained pleasantly illuminated thanks to the abundance of ambient lighting. One of the hotel’s standout features is its peaceful garden courtyard. Although the bar was not

My deluxe room with airconditioning was very comfortable and spacious, but poor Wifi and poor 5G network on my iPhone 13 mini made me go to the bar and lobby to do online stuff. There wifi was good. The restaurant was permanently closed (not mentioned on the website). The bar was not open on a Sunday night, but reception could pour a glass of wine. The breakfast was extensive, but I missed warm boiled eggs, and the scrambled egg tasted very sweet (not good). No bacon but a strange kind of sausage. Cold cuts were ok. The swimming pool and spa was gorgeous with beautiful wall paintings. Sizeable on site parking lot which was closed off at night. Nice grounds and garden. Overall a pleasant stay with some remarks.

The location is very convenient to explore Obernai and the surroundings, just try not to miss the entrance because it’s a bit hidden (but Google Maps gives the correct directions). The hotel has separate buildings that seem to be connected, and it’s overall well kept. However, if you have mobility issues, ask if there are stairs to your room as there were many to mine and with a suitcase it’s not practical (no lift). Also, my room wasn’t as depicted on Booking, as I was expecting to have a bigger bathroom with a bathtub and it wasn’t the case. Also, I believe at least a bottle of water should be available in the room and the mini-fridge, even if it’s empty, should be clean (not the case). Also, no extra amenities besides the hand soap, shower gel and lotion. Another thing to note: on their website it’s written that breakfast on weekends is until 10:30 (I believe 11:00 would be even better). But no, apparently it’s until 10:00 (I confirmed). And there are not enough tables, I had to wait for one to be available and it was poorly set. Also, I didn’t find the breakfast buffet all that appealing (namely the lack of brown bread and hot dishes, namely scrambled eggs). A little disappointed since I was expecting more from a 4 star hotel. The parking is free (but not guarded), and I didn’t try the pool but it seemed nice (you can see it from the outdoor patio between buildings). The staff was very welcoming though, especially at the reception.

I booked 2 rooms for 4 nights 12-16.12.2025 almost two months in advance! for a retired couple (my wife and me), my pregnant daughter, her husband and a 2-year-old toddler (granddaughter). We arrived on the 12th of the month and were very surprised that the lady at the reception (Elizabeth) directed us to 2 rooms in a building without an elevator (and this hotel has a building with an elevator...) with many stairs to the rooms and even stairs inside my daughter's room (attached photos). No one helped and it was very difficult to get the equipment up to the rooms (suitcases + baby stroller). The attitude in the dining room was also cold and unhelpful every morning. Of course, there is no chance that we will recommend the hotel, quite the opposite, and I travel a lot around the world (including France...) and I will never forget the bad experience we had here.

This was the worst hotel staff experience I have ever had. We came to Strasbourg after a 6-hour train journey and went to check in at the hotel. My son is a toddler, and he accidentally broke a small ornament. I immediately told the receptionist that I would take responsibility for it and tried to proceed with check-in as quickly as possible. I even skipped the hotel orientation to avoid causing any further inconvenience. After I paid for the stay, and before the receptionist handed me the room key, she asked me to clean up the mess my toddler had made. I was extremely shocked. I have never experienced a hotel staff member asking a guest to clean up something a toddler did. It was also very clear that the staff were bothered and annoyed by children. If this hotel does not welcome families with kids, they should clearly state that it is an adults-only hotel. Even before this incident, I noticed that the receptionist was much more polite and friendly when speaking to French guests. I can’t help but wonder whether she would have asked a French guest to clean up after their toddler. I will never stay at this hotel again, and I truly wish there had been a way to cancel my check-in.

Delightful stay with very accommodating staff. Excellent location, only issue is walk from bus to hotel, but that is the new policy mandated by the city to limit busses in the old town

From the outside it looks amazing, quite secret being down an alley but what an entrance. It does have parking but not secure but did the job for a night. |The Air Conditioning unit well… it was old and had a tube out the window. The lights were weird, didn’t work great. TV was crap… British channels don’t work. Very dated room, found old slipper and other trinkets under the beds, house keeping missed these. |Breakfast wasn’t great, not impressed, we paid for the night on arrival and was asked if we wanted to tip, we had just arrived and why tip on arrival ha. We were also told restaurant was full then we came back after a few drinks and it was sooo full there was about 14 tables free. Wouldn’t stay here again. Rather pay more and get more. This hotel wasn’t worth the money in my opinion.

Sadly in decline since its sale. We have bene here many times and can chart its decline. The main problem is the very good Winstub restaurant has closed down. The rest of the hotel is pretty much as it was but sadly all the old staff seem to have gone, which has cost the hotel some of its character and charm from losing these long term and very good staff. Breakfasts are quite expensive, but offer a good range of foods. Room was clean but housekeeping maintenance is slipping (4 out of 11 LED ceiling lights were broken). There is plenty of parking for such a central hotel. Seems to be very popular with cycle tour groups. Not really a four star now.
