Breathtaking views and a peaceful climb! Whether you hike or take the vintage train, La Rhune is a must-see in the Basque Country. Stunning panoramas over the ocean and mountains — totally worth it. Don’t forget a jacket; it gets windy at the top!

A very nice view at the top, and a great experience where you can see into both France and Spain. The walk up is very steep, so I would recommend you take lots of water. There is the option if the train, but you have to book far in advance and can’t just turn up on the day. There is a shop at the top and two restaurants.

We started from the reservoir, then followed the trail up. Positive gain throughout with parts requiring good physical condition and shoes. A moderate to difficult hike, but well worth the effort. At sunrise with clear skies the 360 view is stunning.

Magnificent mountain with an absolutely breathtaking scenery. Go to the top of the mountain by either taking the train or hiking. We took the easy way, that is, by train, and our kids love it. There is a restaurant on top, and toilets. On the way, there are many wild horses grazing. You can buy the train tickets online which help cut the queueing time. Also there are many parking spaces and souvenir shops near the parking areas.

Very nice hike. We started in Ascain, the trail is well marked. The views from the top are stunning.

A stark contrast from the serenity and beauty of the Mediterranean to the stark & scenic mountain Larrun! We rode authentic railway, built in 1924, for a 30 minute ride, breaking through the clouds to the top (3,000’). Many people hike up the mountain on many rustic trails. The top of the mountain is dead center of Spain and France. The picture where Joan & I kiss is our contribution to International Relations as officially, I am standing in France and Joan is in Spain! That small pillar is the border marker. How cool is that!!

I walked up and down following the HRP trail from Hendaye. The walk up is steep but very easy. Descending on the east side is on a narrow trail mostly easy but with a few places that require a little care. From the top, on clear days the views are amazing and there are plenty of restaurants to cool off and recharge.

Loved it up here, very atmospheric with the regularly changing weather. Great views when clear.
