We recently stayed at the ibis Lyon Nord as a stopover on our way to Spain, and it turned out to be a really pleasant experience. I have fond memories of staying here over 40 years ago as a child with my family, so it was special to return—this time with my own kids (16 and 18). We don’t usually stop and tend to drive straight through, but it was nice to break up the journey for once.||We were travelling with our dog, and the hotel is very dog-friendly—even allowing dogs in the restaurant, which was a big plus for us. After a long drive, we received a super friendly welcome from the staff. They all spoke English, although I did try out some of my old school French! We had checked in online beforehand, so the process was quick and easy, with just a small €5 city tax to pay on arrival.||We booked two connecting rooms, each with a double bed. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. One thing to note is that only one pillow per person is provided, and they are quite flat—so bringing your own extra pillows (as we did) is a good idea, although I’m sure the hotel would provide more if asked.||We had dinner in the on-site restaurant (reviewed separately), and overall had a very comfortable night’s sleep. The rooms were impressively quiet, which made a big difference after a long day of travelling.||Breakfast was good, with a decent selection including pastries, baguette, ham, turkey, cheeses, fruit, cereals, boiled eggs, jams, coffee, and juices. We later noticed there were also scrambled eggs and bacon available. We went down around 8:30am and everything was well stocked. The only thing we missed was a proper cup of tea.||Overall, this was a really enjoyable stopover. It’s conveniently located just off the autoroute, the staff are genuinely friendly, and it offers everything you need for a comfortable break in your journey. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.
Stop over driving from Spain to UK. Good location, nice rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast worth having. Carpark secure
Clean comfortable rooms. Good food and drink. Nice pool with a relaxing area. Friendly helpful staff. Easy to get to off the motorway. Used this place 6 times.
Very willing staff (and management). Very few Ibis are trying to create an atmosphere and an identity, so you will find a little more than what you booked for. Very decent food offering.
Very hospitable! The staff treated us, as France was doing so well in the game against South Africa! Lovely, friendly atmosphere. Excellent breakfast in the beautiful garden. Room lovely and clean. Can't fault the place. Well-worth seeking out if you need a stop near Lyon.
We stayed here on our way to La Grande-Motte and the only reasons we chose it were that it was close to a Tesla Supercharger and you usually can't go wrong with an Ibis, they are usually simple & clean.||The Tesla Supercharger is indeed close-by (just across the road at another hotel) so that was a plus but for us this Ibis did not live up to our usual expectations. The place was simple, sure, but the rooms were really small, you could hardly walk around the bed. As for the cleanliness, one room was OK but the other room had a smelly airco which made the room smell damp and of fungus.||As we planned to leave for our final destination as early as possible we had booked the rooms with breakfast but alas... breakfast is definitely not worth the extra price. The trays were dirty, the selection of food was not as shown on their photos on the booking site and the staff wasn't really helpful either. I decided to skip breakfast after having taken a bite of a croissant that was way too fat and a sip of so-so coffee. The rest of the family tried but eventually we decided to nip over to Paul's across the motorway for some decent food and coffee.
First stopover hotel after long drive. Hotel has small pool which is great for kids to enjoy & cool off in. Good breakfast & restaurant with outside dining. Two interconnecting rooms were allocated so great amount of space. Good aircon & clean rooms. Would stay again.
Nice hotel, nice garden and a decent restaurant. But some of the staff smells extremely of sweat, so much that it’s disgusting and hard to enjoy the food. Im sitting in the restaurant right now and I’m not looking forward to be served. New: I have been accused of discriminatory attitude by another staff member after I wrote this comment on Trip Advisor. That’s ridiculous. I was dining with my wife shortly after check in, and everything was excellent until this particular person arrived for work and started waiting on guests in the dining room. The odour was old sweat, and it was flying like a banner after this person. Elsewhere in the reception area it smelled of perfume, as some hotel person said after «checking» the conditions after reading about it in my comment.. But if the customer normally is right, the hotel management should take comments as mine seriously instead of accusing me of discrimination. How could I be? Old sweat is old sweat no matter who stinks, and a hotel employee tending bar and waiting on tables should not smell like soap does not exist. I have stayed at Ibis Lyon several times and liked everything about the hotel. But the gut reaction of the management when blaming me for the situation is the last straw for me. I’ll find another place to stay next time. Gunnar E
