It was pouring on the day that I returned after 40 years. It was also mid December meaning there were few boats and many shops were closed. I was impressed by some of the recent round the world tech machines that fly over the waves at speeds risking total destruction in the event of mishap. On the other hand it is a bit of an embarrassment from a sustainable point of view that these high-tech machines cost millions of Euros to build and only serve One race... In fact even their names should be an embarrassment to the people who dared put them on is there a direct slap in the face too much of the developing world!
Wonderful place for shore based or more nautical visits. Large marina on the front which is lined with restaurants and bars. There is a brilliant fish market on the Quay and you can even book sea trips on a large tourist boat.
The center of sailing in France; the home port of the late Eric Tabarly. Many Parisian families have second homes here, Grandmothers with children are a common sights during school vacations. Huge tides. Great locations for kite surfing nearby. Le Port is a good restaurant.
Well worth visiting. I walked to the port from the campsite along the coast road. You get good views of the estuary. There are hundreds of yachts moored up in the port. Mostly sailing boats, though a few stinky motor boats. There are some formidable sailing boats. I love the way the French are so proud. There are notices on the queue with descriptions of the huge racing machines, complete with details of the crew.
We visited here in September, and it is a nice place to stop. There's a huge marina with a large car park on the sea front. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops.
Lovely spot to visit. Lots of cafes and bistros to choose from. Ample parking.
For anyone who likes the slow paced cafe life, this has it. Lots to choose from. Lots of big yachts and goings on along the river Crac'h (crack), lovely walk to Carnac or out to the Point of Kerbihan. The cafes are worth repeating.
Very pretty, good bars, large carpark,
