Castle, location, service and fine dining diner experience were perfect, for a great price. The room is large and comfortable but its decoration is a bit basic and contrasts a lot with the luxurious decoration of the castle. We’ll come back.
This hotel was part of a touring holiday down the Dordogne. We arrived and took our own luggage to the room via the elevator. The second floor corridor was a real shock: dark, poorly appointed and looked more like a nursing home than a hotel. Dark carpets, drab walls and an old fashioned door key. The room had no inbuilt air conditioning — a standard fan for when too warm and an electric fire if too cold. I can only imagine what this ould be like mid summer. The room was reasonably appointed.||||We went down stairs for some light lunch at 3 pm. Oh, no lunch now — the only thing which could be offered was ice cream!! The hotel without food!! ||||The pool area was very basic. Sun recliners with no cushions and no sun umbrellas.||||We did have dinner that evening which was not too bad. ||||This place is living in a different era and needs a vast investment of capital to make it fit for purpose. The may say they are attending to issues, but from previous reviews this is not happening. The are depending on people from bus tours! This is a place to miss if you can.
The room was well appointed but the central heating was extremely noisy, coming on and off frequently throughout the night. The room in general could benifit greatly from a bathroom renovation. The evening meal was wonderful as was the breakfast and the service and staff was excellent.
We loved our stay. Lovely place, very friendly staff. We would love to come back.
Good staff, breakfast very good. WiFi excellent . Room oddly decorated and no hanging or storage space and room was noisy. You could hear everything from room upstairs and outside your room. Passage to rooms is dark. It maybe better in older building do Try and book room there instead. Spa expensive as are pool towels
While experiencing good service from the front desk, enjoying the spa and pools that are nearby as well as the restaurant, the quality of our room that was in the second building next to the castle was very disappointing — see attached photos. Not sure why management has let the condition of that building and the rooms deteriorate as much as it has..The quality and condition of that building is not at all consistent with everything else
When we arrived after a 500km journey we found that on a Monday there is no bar or restaurant. I dont think a 4* hotel should have nights where they close the bar or restaurant. We arrived tired and hungry, then had to go out to find food.
Beautiful setting in Dordogne, Perigueux just a few minutes away (the Easter service in Cathedrale Saint-Front was beautiful). Great service, comfortable room. Dinner was one of the best we had in the south of France. 900 yr old Abbaye Notre Dame a short walk up the road.
