Hotel was beautiful, great location. Room was ok, not very big nor very comfortable but all fine. Bathroom was nice. We had to wait a bit to check in but everything was good.
We did not stay in the Logis but we had lunch there in two occasions. The meal was properly done and nicely plated. Omelets with porcini was very good. Fried potatoes were super. Local white wine was real good. 4 persons we paid less than a hundred and were decently fulfilled. Toilets are clean and airy. Will certainly go back when we are in this region again.
This review is about the restaurant only. The food here was terrible and incredibly rushed. The mussels were undercooked and half of the people who ate them puked a few hours later. The fish was still frozen on arrival and the burgers were completely raw and lastly one of us ordered a salad without dressing for allergy reasons but still got the dressing.
For the money we paid this was a very good hotel. Being in a small hamlet (a lovely old church to explore) it was quiet. About a 200 yard walk to the river Dordogne. The room on the second floor was simple yet very adequate with a shower to take home (B&Q might be getting business). No passenger lift but the walk does you good. Breakfast was continental but good quality and quantity. Ate dinner in for the two nights we stayed and had great fun in translating. Not a huge selection of wines but what they had were reasonably priced and good for our palate. Great place to say to explore the surrounding area. Have no hesitation in returning. Ps Must try learning French.
Lovely old auberge by the Dordogne river in a rural setting. Our room was up the top and huge. Bit hot at times as the weather was stormy but comfortable and spotless. Very up to date stylish shower room. It's the only hotel and restaurant in the village but the food was good local stuff with tasty small menu on the terrace and more choice and menus in the restaurant. Service finishes fairly early though. Downside was the wifi not available in the rooms and having to log in every time you used it.
We came here to Auberge de lil for lunch. We had buffet to start. There was a selection of salad. They ran out of egg that was disappointing, considering chicken and cockerels being heard nearby. |A lovely comfy seating area outside with lovely view of a stream. There was shade where we were sat, so wasn't too bad. The waitress was sweet bit couldn't speak English. We had Chicken skewers and salad for main that was very basic. And fit desert I had creme brûlée that was good. Be prepared that there are flies everywhere, so you can't leave your food unattended. There was free wifi that was good. This was reasonable for what you got. A pleasant surrounding and clean. |
What a great place. Modest, very welcoming. Yet another success with the “Logis de France” network; yet another reason to go get lost in la douce France. Had a very enjoyable, peaceful evening meal on their patio. The “Salade Auberge” was covered in thin slices of tender magret fumé and gésiers. The cassoulet was killer, one of the best I’ve ever had. All so very delicious and the prices reasonable. Simply wonderful experience. Definitely worth a return visit.
My family spent 3 nights at the Auberge de l'll while exploring the Dordogne and Lot Valleys and found it to be an enchanting location. The village dates from the 1200s with many original structures still standing. In addition the natural beauty of the area is fabulous with a bubbling spring, singing birds, brimming flower boxes and the Dordogne river just a short stroll away. The hallways of the hotel were basic but our room had been newly done and was very clean and comfortable. We had some meals at the hotel because the terrace was such a lovely place to sit and drink wine, but the food was not quite as good what we found at local restaurants. The duck dishes were good however and the breakfast croissants were the best that we had on the whole trip. Internet was spotty in the room but pretty quick from the terrace and reception area.
