Avis
Our stay was exactly what we anticipated in a French 2*: quirky in the best way, with individual service and good, basic room facilities. Breakfast was an excellent buffet with some home made products and other items on which expense was not spared. We were also offered eggs. Definitely worth €9. The owner was running the place almost single-handed, and she was friendly and helpful (nice touches like the free ice cream when we were sat by the pool with a drink after 2200). Despite the industrial/main road surroundings, the outside space is nicely equipped with a variety of seating and space for children to play around the pool. Only negative is that are no restaurant or bar facilities on site at present: lots of good choices in the town, but a drive to eat is not always what is wanted at a stopover hotel.
Quiet peaceful family hotel with the warmest of welcomes cool clean and comfortable rooms, ample parking. Brilliant location for a stopover en route as its only 2 minutes off Route A61 junction 24. A short drive to Carcassonne The evening meal was simply magnificent. A beautiful garden to sit relax and enjoy and to eat alfresco. Nice clean and well tended swimming pool too. Highlight of this stay has to be the warmth and good humour of the proprietors, clearly very lovely people who care about their guests. I would definitely return.
We stayed here for two nights with our 3 young children and it was very nice and peaceful. The rooms are a little outdated, especially the bedding, but overall it was a lovely, warm and welcoming place to stay. A big highlight for the children were the pool and outdoor space, including the trampoline and hammocks they played in for hours on end! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating.
I stayed here earlier this year, and enjoyed the friendly and peaceful atmosphere. The mother and son who run the hotel made every effort to make me feel welcome, and after a good night's sleep I was able to enjoy a delicious breakfast and relax in the garden. The castle in Carcassonne was very easy to get to from the hotel, so I'd recommend staying here if you're planning to visit. I hope to come again sometime with the whole family!
I was very grateful to be able to get a room at this hotel at short notice during a busy holiday weekend when my partner was rushed into hospital the day we were due to fly home. The proprietors were very kind and understanding and allowed me to stay on a day by day basis as I didn't know how long I would need to be there. The rooms are basic but comfortable and the bathroom was good with a decent shower that didn't leak all over the floor as many do. The breakfast offered a good selection and was available until 10.30am. They serve dinner every evening until quite late and offer a small but good menu at a reasonable price. I ate there on the four evenings that I stayed and thoroughly enjoyed every meal. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is not in a pretty location, but it is quiet although just off the main road/motorway and is only minutes from both Carcassonne and Trebes with a good sized car park. There is also a nice garden with terrace and swimming pool which many guests were enjoying using while I was there.
Stayed here before we flew home for the weekend from Carcasonne Airport. (Hotel about 15 minutes drive away)||||Found it a very pleasant experience, the new owners were lovely and tried very hard to please. We had a room with air con - much needed as it was hot throughout the night! Rooms are pretty basic, but are clean and comfortable - which is all you need really!||||Nice pool, plenty of loungers to chill out on and food was excellent both in the evening and suprisingly for a French hotel, breakfast was plentiful and nice too!||Locked parking too - ideal if you are travelling and using this as a stopover - we are certainly intending to do so again!||||It is a bit 'out of the way' I suppose, but if you have a car and don't mind the short journey it is well worth it.||||Oh yeah - it is a dog friendly hotel too!
We had a very nice room with a terrace overlooking the fields and hill. Everything was very comfy and they are busy upgrading all the rooms. |Good breakfast .Perfect place to hang around for a couple of days or for a break on our trip.|Beautiful old hotel with modern facilities and our dog loved to stroll in the fields.|Nice pool too!|Goede tussenstop voor Nederlanders! Echt aan te raden!
What a special stay I‘ve had at La Gentilhommière! You can definitely feel that this hotel is a familyhotel, in the way you are welcomed from the beginning: like you are visiting someone else’s personal house. ||The garden and the swimmingpool are great places to take a moment of rest and if you feel like seeing the surroundings, that is sure possible too: since the hotel is close to the highway you can easily reach the famous centre and castle of Carcassonne or walk/bike/drive to beautiful places around (lakes/rivers/winefields/other cities/etc). ||I’d recommend everyone who wants a cosy stay at a family’s place, filled with colours and passionate people, to go here :).
