A mixed bag for us. Firstly the good. Lovely hotel, clean, tastefully decorated and friendly, helpful staff at hand to help you with any problems. We booked a deluxe double with sea views. The views were amazing , with a glass fronted balcony looking across the harbour to Herm and Jersey in the distance. Overall very happy with the room and hotel.|The bad side for us was the breakfast. Ist day my wife ordered poached egg on avocado on sourdough toast. The toast was like rock and burnt on the edges and the avocado was a watery tasteless mash. I ordered the kipper and was presented with a fillet about 3.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. Never seen anything as small in my life and at these prices shockingly poor. The next day we both had the full English which was good but not outstanding. Next day my wife ordered eggs royale and I stuck with the full English. My wife's egg yolks were hard so she sent them back. She waited 10 minutes for them and they arrived like hard boiled eggs. She sent them back again and was asked if she would like something else. She asked about an omelette and when the waitress went into the kitchen we could hear the chef getting quite irate and saying to the waitress to ask how my wife wanted her omelette?|We couldn't help laugh when she asked us this. but she did say that another chef had just come in so we eventually got some decent poached eggs with runny yolks. |Next day my wife asked for an omelette and was presented with the worst one either of us had seen. She took one mouthful and said that it was dry and tasted of the pan it had been cooked in.|Overall this was shocking quality for a hotel of this standard. Five meals on the menu had poached eggs as their base yet the chef couldn't get them right and was incapable of cooking a decent plain omelette. It left us feeling uncomfortable at the breakfast table in the morning because we had complained about something so basic that should never have been an issue.

Nice hotel with a beautiful view of the beach and sea. Breakfast was complete and there was enough choice. The only problem was that even with the do not disturb label on the door the cleaning team would knock and open the door.

It was a wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, very attentive to customers. Hotel with superb ocean view , very Good and varied meals served with kindness. Unlimited fresh water at the bar.Only compliments for this hotel. Come and discover it, you will not be disappointed and bus service to Biarritz and saint jean de luz just across the road.

Wonderful reception staff.great food. Fabulous views. After receiving a response from owner I'd like to add.... I only came to your hotel as I could not get a taxi back to biarritz..I asked other businesses but they didn't offer help. The receptionist last night was instantly helpful and organised everything. I was so impressed I stayed for dinner which was lovely. After dinner I sat outside and again your receptionist was helpful by turning on the patio Lights and taking a moment to ask how I was. IYour hotel stands out as one of the best. what a mistake I didn't book a room with you for my biarritz 4 day stop. I certainly will next time. 🥰😁💯

Spent a week half board with my mum and we loved it. Comfortable yet relaxed. Room with large balcony superb view, and only the noise of the waves as soundtrack. Good food (with unexpected surprise of very nice local wine carafe included in the deal!). All the staff was very efficient, always with a smile. With one of the nicest beach just in front of the hotel, the lovely village of Bidart a short walk away, Biarritz, Bayonne, Saint Jean de Luz and Espelette within 30 minutes drive, it was a truly beautiful and relaxed holiday!

La Fregate is a simple friendly hotel with a clean modern decor, friendly staff and the most amazing location on the stunning natural beach in Bidart. The rooms are comfy in casual bright beach colours with patio windows that all look down into the beach and sea. If you are looking for a place to stroll along the beach every morning ( especially if you are a surfer) and want to fall asleep and wake to the sounds of waves crashing into the beach this is a great choice. There is no pool and nothing fancy but it’s location and friendliness more than make up for it. The hotel has such potential and could really do with work on the outside - perfect for a small pool and decking but it serves its purpose with a few steps your toes touch the sand and you can walk miles along this stunning unspoilt beach

We got a room with balcony, overlooking the beach. We can watch the sunset from the balcony. The hotel is clean, modern, in a maritime style. The bed is one of the best hotel beds I ever slept in. Slight drawback: smoking is allowed on the balkonies, and our neighbors do - it drifts over pretty heavily.

Pleasant, clean room with sea view. No nonsense, comfortable hotel with good breakfast, served in the restaurant or on the terrace outside, overlooking the sea. Have always been able to park easily at the hotel (free parking). Great hotel if you want to take advantage of the surfing beach which is literally on your doorstep. If you want to walk into the centre of Bidart town, it's a 20-30 minute walk up the hill. Alternatively you can turn right out of the hotel and walk into Guethary which is a lovely village with bars and handful of restaurants. Worth going to the watch the surfers tackle 'the avalanche' at Guethary. Great hotel location if you have a car and travel to Biarritz, St Jean de Luz or over the border to San Sebastien in Spain - all worth a visit.
