A beautiful and well-maintained cathedral. Could easily spend more than an hour there. Be aware that they are closed for lunch. If you have time you should visit Montpellier's Faculty of Medicine which is the oldest practicing medical school in the world.
Perfectly lovely Sunday mass. Sunlight streaming through the stained glass. The organ is felt through your heart.
The cathedral was absolutely beautiful — the way the light filtered through created such a peaceful and powerful atmosphere. I genuinely felt the energy of the place. One of the highlights for me was the stunning organ, which was not only visually impressive but added to the sacred, timeless feeling of the church. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates architecture, spirituality, or just a moment of calm in the city.
Enormous cathedral with unique architectural features. Back in the middle ages, the cathedral was fortified by the catholics against protestant attacks. Remnants of this fortification are the three huge towers (one collapsed) and the two rocket-like pillars. Beautiful stained glass windows. Beautiful and large organ.
It can be reached by 10-15 minutes walk from Place de la Comédie, it was a beautiful church from the outside. The main door is closed, but the huge pillar was very imposing. It is a good photo ops, as not many tourists venture here. This is a really old Gothic church with a lot of history built back in the 14th century. Try to visit here when exploring Montpellier, as it is impressive and worth visiting once.
Not much to do inside as most things seem closed but can have a stroll around. Very beautiful from the outside
A beautiful cathedral, well maintained. Dedicated to Saint Peter. Located in the old part of the city dating back to 1364 when it was the church of the monastery of St Benoit. Suffered extensive damage in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 17th century with fortifications . It is adjoined to the university of medicine and there are great views of the tower from the back of the university. It is a must see destination in Montpellier and well worth a visit
Wish there was a bit more access to the cathedral for the public but still a lovely space, were also people studying in the pavilion area as well.
