I cannot speak on the hotel aspect. We went to L’Art Doize restaurant attached to the hotel and it was phenomenal! The best meal we’ve had on our Europe trip, and more food than expected. The man and woman who served us were welcoming and friendly even though we only speak English. Absolutely delightful, definitely recommend visiting!

The hotel has 6 bedrooms and our group took the lot. Everyone was satisfied, the rooms were not luxurious, but they were pretty and very clean. The beds were comfortable. And Nathalie was a most attentive and obliging hostess, nothing was too much trouble. We ate at Le Foch one night and everyone thought that dinner was very good indeed. We had a lovely time and would definitely go back.

An overnight stay booked on the spur of the moment in a town we had passed through a number of times. Cassel is a wonderful quirky town, although the end of August may nor be the best time to visit as so much seemed to be closed ! However, there was the benefit that the town was not overcrowded and there was not a lot of pressure on parking.||||L'Art Doize is easy to find being located in the main square, but gaining entry proved to be more problematic. The bar was closed and the entry to the hotel was locked however a phone call to the owner brought him to the door eventually. Once inside one had to negotiate a narrow steep staircase to a first floor room, and similar to the second floor room for our travelling companions, The rooms themselves were spacious if a little tired, and the attached bathrooms would benefit from updating. Room 1 on the first floor was very noisy being over the bar area and the traffic travelling over the cobblestones added to the cacophony. There is also a street light directly by the window plus the illuminated sign for the bar which the curtains did not really dim. It was too hot to close the shutter which may have improved the situation. The wardrobe door came away in my hand but no damage done, and I maybe should have noticed that the hinges were not attached! The bed was spacious, comfortable and clean as were the towels and facilities. The owners should consider installing a USB charging port in the room as there is free wifi and travellers may appreciate it.||||Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed on Thursdays so did not have the chance to sample the cuisine. The bar was adequately stocked and seemed to be popular. Very quirky decor was in evidence! Pre-ordered breakfast was served in the bar: fruit juice, coffee, croissant, petit pain au chocolate, butter and jam were on the table. ||||The rooms have to be vacated by 10.00am with a fine imposed for every 15minutes overstayed, which could be awkward for some travellers. ||||Ove

This hotel is situated in the main square. Nathalie is a warm welcoming hostess who speaks very good English. The hotel is traditional, much more personal and cosy than the chain hotels. The rooms are a good size and have comfortable beds and good showers. The rooms at the back don't have much of a view but are quieter, being away from the cobbled street at the front. The restaurant overlooks the square and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner most days. The food is good - well presented and of good quality, especially the steak. We had a great weekend and will definitely be back.

This hotel is now called L'Art Doize. It is well-located in the centre of Cassel with plenty of public parking outside. The rooms are spacious and very clean although, as mentioned in an earlier review, some have only a curtain between the bedroom and the bathrooms - but the bathrooms are of good size. The restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfasts are good value. Our party took four rooms and had a splendid weekend; we would happily return.

We decided to have a sneaky 1 night stay in France and chose this hotel as not too far from Calais. The town is wonderful and steeped in history. Hotel was just what we had hoped for although I did book the extra large room but due to another booking we were downgraded to a small double which, although it served it's purpose, was not very comfortable. Food in the evening was lovely and the hostess was very attentive. All in all, a good trip

Booked and stayed in this hotel on 29 th of December for one night, before travelling back to UK. On Tripadvisor recommendation. What a Big mistake . This was the worst hotel we have stayed in for many years of traveling to Europe. On arrival was met by pleasant lady who showed us to our room , instance smell of damp and very step stairs. We had booked a table in their restaurant prior to our arrival only to be told they were closed on Friday night. Thank god for the wonderful restaurant across the road. She said to run hot water for little while before getting it. 20 minutes later no hot water , so left with out shower. We had twin room, beds were very very small even for a child, hence no sleep that night. Smelly and very hard mattress. Room very small , toilet with the loadested masserater you have ever heard , shower could have done with a good clean I.e grout very mouldy. Toilet was just inside room door and you had go round the beds to the very small shower room to wash your hands. If we could have found some where else to stay we would have. The room was very cold radiator took hours to warm and then was only Luke warm. We would have been better off sleeping in the car for the night .Was offered breakfast at 8 Euro per person but as restaurant was closed didn't fancy that. Anyway we had anough by 3am of the terrible beds, nosey toilet, cold room and left at 4am. How people have given this hotel a fabulous rating i,ll never know. It's a dump. The hotel is not evened man over night. To get back in to hotel you have to use code, we didn't have problems but the French couple in front of us did . Had to give one star to post this review. Personally I would give it none.
