What an awesome amazing castle. I took the audio accompaniment in English and if I was to visit again, I would take it again! It is a must if you want to get the most out of your visit. Lovely friendly English speaking ladies on reception who are knowledgeable about the castle. You can tell they really enjoy their job. The castle is in various states of repair. Restoration work has been carried out in most of the rooms that are open & available to the public to see. I appreciated seeing what unrestored parts of the castle looked like too.

Spectacular setting but you need to stop on the road to the village to get the best photograph as once you reach the castle you are too close and at the wrong angle to photograph it all. It costs €5 to enter and the lady at Reception was extremely helpful, giving us a map and explaining the recommended route. It doesn't take long to see everything, we did it in about 20 minutes. There is a recorded guide available which probably takes longer.

What a lovely place this is with plenty to do and see. The village is very pretty and the castle is amazing. Well worth a visit

2 Castles side by side located on a cliff 90 metres above the adjacent river. This is a very interesting place to visit with a fascinating history. We spent several hours wandering through the castles and grounds listening to the self guided tour information. Well worth a visit.

An impressive historical monument since 1840, the building (12th, 13th and 17th centuries) is built at the very top of the cliff overlooking the confluence of the Vère and the Aveyron, on the site of an ancient Roman castrum. Property of the Counts of Toulouse in the 12th century, it was shared in the 15th between two branches of the House of Comminges, which explains the current division into the Château Jeune and the Château Vieux. Also known for having been the filming location for the movie "Le Vieux Fusil" with Romy Schneider and Philippe Noiret ...

Better than I had expected. This is more than a “double castle site” as it’s a small village that was once upon a time a larger town. It has tumbledown properties in amidst those which have been renovated and it’s very much a lived in village. The ascent from the car park was very manageable for the average person again not as steep as perhaps reviews had led me to believe. There is a very good tourist information office as you enter the village. There is parking at the top of the hill with easy access to the village and castle. There are some restaurants so refreshment is easy.

There are 2 castles, and already a lot of renovation has been done. Guided tours available or a map is provided. The additional exhibitions enhance the visit, particularly the dvd on the Cave

What a great place to visit, for a very moderate fee - 6 Euros + 0.50 euro to rent a recorded tour guide in one of several languages, this is a must visit if you are anywhere in south western France. There are two castles for the price of one, the castles are well preserved and it's easy to imagine people living here. Of particular interest is the room devoted to the discoveries of paleo cave dwellings that may have housed Neanderthals' from 175,000 years ago. There are posters describing the discovery and the anthropological work that has been carried out in the caves with descriptions in French and Spanish.
