I stopped by Église Saint‑Jacques‑le‑Majeur while wandering through Nice—right in the Old Town, it's a perfect little respite in the maze of streets. The interior struck me as intimate and gentle, with soft light filtering through the stained‑glass windows and wooden pews adding warmth. Despite being tucked amid busy alleys, inside feels calm and soothing—a lovely, quiet corner to pause and appreciate simple beauty.
Stumbled across this beautiful church while trying to find a supermarket. It's aptly located in Jesus's Street. Don't let's It's rather plain doors and humble exterior fool you. Once you walk inside the decorations are quite beautiful. There was only one person present while we were in there. A lovely Catholic Church worth dropping into as you walk the back streets of Nice in the Old Town.
The church showcases stunning Baroque architecture with beautiful interiors, reflecting the period’s artistic style. It’s situated in the heart of Nice and is easily accessible.
I was wondering around the old town Nice and came across this impressive church. A quiet place to contemplate from the busy city center.
Hidden among the narrow streets of Old Nice, this Baroque-style church is close by Rossetti Square, in a little and very quiet Place du Jésus. The church has a very interesting history. It was built by Jesuits and thus is also known as the Èglise du Gesù. It is dedicated to one of the Twelve Apostles, James (Jacob) the Greater (Jaques le Majeur). I was astonished to see beautiful paintings and frescoes here!
It is a small church at the historical centre of Nice, open to public on weekdays. The history of the building dates back to the 17th century, and there are some very interesting artworks inside the place.
Beautifully architectured and painted Catholic Church in the heart of old Nice. Well worth the stop if even just to admire the ceiling.
A small but very impressive church in the middle of the old town of Nice. Very peaceful to walk true and see the history.
