A wonderful hotel restaurant in Châtenois with a warm, home‑like atmosphere. The impressive collection of teddy bears 🧸 gives the place a unique and charming character. Very friendly staff and a welcoming hostess - you feel genuinely well taken care of. We started with foie gras and toasted bread, paired with a Porto aperitif over ice - excellent. For the main course, I had Poulet au Riesling with Spätzle, perfectly cooked and flavorful, paired with a lovely Pinot Gris. My companion ordered the escalope de veau, also very good. No place for dessert after all 🫣, but the espresso was outstanding - thick, aromatic, rich. The place gets busy, so reservations are recommended - we were lucky to get a table on Sunday. Cozy, authentic Alsatian cuisine and hospitality. Highly recommended😍

We stayed here 3 nights for hiking. The house is a lovely old house, very authentic, old wooden stairs... Cosy. If you love old buildings this is very nice. We had room number 8 which is a nice room with wooden floor, large, modern bathroom and toilet extra. Breakfast was very nice in a cosy room and lots of choices - boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruits, a variety of jams, honey, lots of cheese, homemade cakes, orange juice, etc etc. We also ate at the restaurant one evening which was nice - but very few choices if you do not eat meat ;-) I think in Alsace meat is a very common dish ;.) There is a huge parking place for free just a short walk from the hotel. Lots of restaurants are nearby, a very nice bar (Le Darwin) as well. It is in the middle of Chatenois. We started our hikes (one to Haut-Koenigsbourg; one to St Pierre Bois) directly from the hotel without using a car. It is directly at the main street, but we did not hear any noise at night. Good value for money.

If you are looking for just a place where to sleep (clean & calm), nothing fancy on a fair price this it. But on another side the only amenities that you have it’s soap and 2 bags of shower gel (for 3 nights in), no fridge on your room, no get information about cut water on your room, the clean lady doesn’t get information if you are still on the room or not (got twice disturb about it) and the receptionist/owner no friendly at all it seems that every time you asked something you are completely bother her… very inconfortable.

It's not my habit to write bad reviews, but this time I feel obliged to do so. To start on the positive side. The beds were clean and good. We slept well. The room was clean, although very shabby and outdated. Hardly any repairs were made, only the very needed ones, we suppose. The smell in the hotel was...well, what was it? A bit foul. Dinner in the restaurant was the worst we had in many, many years. The breakfast, uhmmm, that was horrible too. Stay away from this hotel. Sorry to say.

Lovely cozy place! Nothing too fancy but honestly the food is freshly made, home made and the prices are extremely fair. The atmosphere is very chilled and nice

First off, there are better, more interesting towns to stay in in Alsace than this one, to be honest. But I was on a hiking tour, and after 6+ hours of hiking in the rain this was my stop. The one plus was a bathtub instead of just a shower - after the cool rain I was ready for that. Aside from that though the bathroom was extremely bare bones. No shower curtain (despite there being a shower head in addition to the bathtub), very old and small towels, generic toiletries (this is kind of a given in small hotels like this so I don't hold it against them). The rooms are small and the bed was lumpy, and I awoke to a sewer like smell coming from outside below my room. It is an old building and creaks a lot, so everyone walking by the room (not many, this is a small hotel) couldn't help but make noise. They were very nice, so I feel bad being critical, but honestly, this was not a good hotel. I don't think anything in the place has been updated in at least 30 years.

We came as a group of 15 VTT'ists (Mountain Bikers). We needed to book last minute due to a change in the weather. The owner and staff could not have been more welcoming!||The food was delicious, the real Alsatian cooking - among us we had rognons (kidneys), poulet Riesling (just the right flavor for a rainy day) and boeuf gros sel. With them came plenty of spatzela, pomme de terre gratinè, and most importantly dessert to die for. Tarte de cerise, gâteau de fraud, and mousse au chocolate. Plus, the owners daughter lives in Kansas City so she is particularly kind to the Americans! ||I'll be back, soon.

We always have a mealk during our annual jaunt through Alsace. Some of teh friendliest owners you can encounter, they service traditional Alsace food and are happy to customise any meal. Always a pleasure to eat here.
