One of the best preserved dolmens, free admission, beautiful site
It's a few years since we visited. There's now food parking, a visitors centre (which wasn't open) and toilets. You can still walk inside the rocks. Amazing place to see standing stones.
These rocks are open to to viewed 24/7 There is a car park, and a visitor centre. The Visitor centre was not open, but there was a basic toilette which could be used. In the area there is a picnic area with tables where you could eat. There are also explanations of the alignment of the dolmen with the winter solstice, and some audio explanations in English and French. Short walk from the car park towards a wood where the rocks can be seen. La Roche-aux-Fées is the most famous and largest dolmen in Brittany, with a 19.5 meter passage, 6 meters wide and 4 meters high.
One of the biggest and best preserved dolmens of France. Stunning architecture. Easily accessible from the road, with a nearby parking. Free entrance and picnic tables available in the surrounding area.
A truly evocative place, you can breathe a special atmosphere. The attention to detail denotes a great passion for history. Surely enthusiasts will be able to fully grasp its historical and cultural value. A visit recommended for those who appreciate the timeless beauty of these places. Congratulations on the conservation!
Access and parking are both free which was a nice surprise. The area itself has some information boards about the history of the neolithic period. The stones were beautifully nestled between oak trees, especially when you're here during summer time the greenery really brings this place to life.
If you are already in Britanny go there.....and t marvel about how they managed to build it thousands of years ago☝️ Good free parking before the information..also for RVs. Entrance is free.
A 20 meter long, 2 meter high covered alley near the village of Esse. "Fairies Rock" is probably one of the best preserved dolmen in Europe. The dolmen (covered alley) is made up of 32 upright stones and 9 cap stones, set in a picturesk wooded area. A must see site if you are nearby. The assistants in the help centre are great.
