We have been visiting the Piscine Intercommunale de Castelnau-Montratier regularly, and it’s always been a real highlight of our summers. The pool is spotless, and it’s clear the staff take great pride in keeping the facilities clean, safe, and welcoming. We’ve always had lovely experiences here, and the male lifeguard who is usually on duty has been especially kind and engaging with the children. He’s playful, warm, and makes the pool feel like a joyful place for families. Unfortunately, our most recent visit didn’t reflect the same experience. We arrived in high spirits on a very hot afternoon, with our children excited to cool down and enjoy the pool. On this occasion, there was a female lifeguard on duty whom we had not encountered before. Our three children, who are always respectful and well-behaved in the pool, approached the box of pool toys and equipment as they’ve done many times under the male lifeguard’s supervision. Since they don’t speak French, they usually rely on friendly gestures and eye contact to communicate. However, as they neared the box, the female lifeguard began shouting at them in French, indicating (from what I could understand) that they needed to ask her permission first. While we completely understand that there may be rules about using the equipment, the tone and approach used were unnecessarily harsh—especially towards children who couldn’t understand the language. There are ways to set boundaries and explain expectations kindly, even without sharing the same language. Body language and tone matter, especially with young kids, and sadly, this interaction left them feeling like they had done something wrong. They became nervous and withdrawn for the rest of the visit. I did speak up and asked that she not be rude to the children, and instead simply explain what is expected—but again, the message was still delivered in French, and not in a way that felt respectful or kind. personnel très désagréable , on ne se sent pas du tout à l'aise dans cette piscine , les règles sont très strictes et surtout ne pas prendre en photo la piscine car il est interdit de prendre une photo mais aucun panneau ne l'indique, à FUIR complétement .... vous trouverez des piscines ou le personnel est bien plus agréable dans le département.

Piscine très agréable et très propre, accueil très bien, des jeux à disposition pour les enfants avec les surveillants.
