A bit to expensive for what youre getting. The trailers/campings are very tight and small. We stayed in the garden area. The security of the place is a little to relaxed for my comfort. With a imposed curfew from 0:00 too 7:00 which i find odd. The garbages are a bit far on foot i recommend throwing out youre trash on youre way out when and if you drive out to visit the local sites. The food stand is overpriced for what you get quality wise in my opinion. 14€ for a low quality pizza. There is a cute restaurant/bar down the road that is beach front. Overall id rather not visit again for what you pay for. On the plus side the staff does seem nice .
Stayed here for 4 nights but paid for 5 as left a night early. We stayed in our campervan on the camp pitches. After looking online we had high hopes for a pirate filled fun few days but we couldnt wait to leave. The pitches are fine but there was only 1 toilet and shower block which was a long walk from our pitch, not ideal with 2 kids. The showers were disgusting and only 3 cubicles in the block which meant long queues and never clean. There was also nowhere close to wash pots so that was hard work. The water park is good for kids age 4-7 ish after that the slides will not be big enough for them. It was always really really busy so getting a sunbed was a mission and you couldn't leave your children to play in the pools unattended as french kids (and parents) are mental and bomb about everywhere. On two days out of the four they closed the main pool early because of a poo incident. They are really strict on swim shorts for men, not so much swim nappies for babies. |We did the mermaid which was good for kids and the pirates walked about and were friendly which was good.|The beach is a 15 min walk away which was a welcomed break from the chaos. It's a shallow beach with plenty of space. We had lunch at the beach bar which was gorgeous and relaxing. The evening entertainment was good but it is all in french. If you can get past that (it's easy to get the drift of things) we did like the dancing shows. The table service was quick for drinks but each time was a different price so wasn't sure if he was skimming each time we paid on card. Overall the kids loved it but we found it not accommodating for campers ans would t go back.
We went for four nights, at a Privilege P2. The mobile home was brand new, and did not lack facilities. Kitchenware was sufficient with a gas stove, a relatively large fridge+freezer, a dishwasher and a microwave. Airconditioning in main room was satisfactory. The home was relatively clean, but it was obvious, that whoever fitted the furniture had filth on their hands which had rubbed off on the white walls. |The showers smelt like sewer. So much so, that one of the bathrooms were more or less unusable for most of the stay. The kitchen sink was leaking, which was fixed on day two after initial report. Most, but not all of the linen fitted the beds. Doors and outdoor lighting was fitted without care or thought, as they would obstruct eachother, not close fully etc. In general, the craftmanship of the homes left something to be desired.||The campsite as a whole gave the impression of being 80% ready for business, possibly because of a recent, major fire. This meant that while most things were functional, wires were sticking up from the ground, not all pattios were sufficiently shaded, and several areas, such as recycle areas and play grounds, were temporarily closed. Among other things, living in the far corner of the grounds, we had a ~2km t/r to dispose of trash. Pattios were overgrown with weeds and so on. It also did seemed like the place wasn't projected to grow as big as it has become, and the whole thing comes across a little chaotic.||The water park was neatly decorated, which was why we chose the place to begin with. We drove from Denmark for this, and it was good, but not overwhelming, and like the campsite, it lacked finish, and parts of the water world was closed. Water was fairly cold for the kids(21-25 celcius), and to their dismay there were no hot tubs. Food in the water park was as expenssive as you might expect for at place like this.||Staff was friendly, and receptionists were competent enough at English, and overall we did not trouble too much with
The first time we stayed, four years ago was fine, the mobile home was new and spacious. The acquapark, was lovely but to be honest a death trap. The campsite is enormous and sprawls in all directions. The beach is large and as its name, really like cold. Be aware the sea is freezing, and I am not joking. There is lots to do for children and teenagers. In the evening professional entertainers come, so you can see cabarets and plays. A word of advice, the area is too small for the size of the campsite and if you want to sit at a table, then you must have something to drink, the prices are also pretty expensive. The re is a disco in the evenings from 11pm- 4am which is fab for everyone. On the downside, traffic, dogs, well their dropping which can be found everywhere and rubbish. The second year, we returned and were given a privately owned mobile home, it hasn't been cleaned and was falling apart, we were not offered any discount and were ||treated appallingly, pity. Good locations rom here you can visit Carcassonne, Perpignan, Barcelona all in a day. We stayed 2010
We had an incredible stay at Camping les Sables d'Or. The location is perfect, just steps from the beautiful beach. The facilities were spotless, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Falling asleep to the sound of the nature was magical. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing beachside getaway!
OK, from the start, we're possibly a bit biased as we own our own mobile here (pay groundrent and all services included each year). But every year this is relaxation for three or four weeks, at different times, and we love it. And we do go elsewhere also, but keep loving Sables D'Or. Now, the site isn't a five star hotel (and some of the other comments expect a lot) but the staff are kind, friendly and attentive, and if we have a problem they're quick to help. We have fabulous pools (including flumes, lovely swimming areas, and a new Disneyesque Pirate pool area with wave machine, surf pool, and lazy river). And in the other direction we're five minutes walk from the sea - and it can be a bit chilly at times, but that's the way it goes nature-wise! This year we've taken to hiring sunbeds and being served in a private area on the beach - €16 for a bed for the day. The other nature issue is the mosquitos...small and viscious. But that goes with a coastal campsite, and again hardly the site's fault. The sanitation blocks, as stated are a bit tired, but cleaned every day and due to be replaced next year. But nearly all mobiles have toilet, shower, etc. If you need to wash clothes there's a state of the art launderette on site. Local shopping is good - the site itself has a small supermarket, a great bakery, and precooked meals. There's a huge Hypermarket ten minutes away, and Agde and surrounding towns have markets. Nighttime entertainment this time has been hit and miss...takes place in the site bar, or its beach bar where you can by a drink and sit at a table, or watch for free from surrounding bench seating. But for the first time ever we saw one show this week with more than half empty seats in the bar area - a kid's fantasy all narrated in French. Clever, but for adults of a multi national audience at 21.30 in the evening - a miss, not a hit. And yes, some other shows on other nights done by the entertainment staff can seem amateurish - but they are also fun and c
The accommodation itself would have got 5 stars from me, the premium cottage was clean, modern, spacious and lovely- however the admin was in the stone age, friends had booked bedding and didn't get it for 2 days, some other friends extended their stay and then the cleaner turned up and their keys were stopped working and it took ages to sort that, they tried to charge us for a room even though we had an agreement to use it. The paperwork they send out to you to fill in prior to your stay is ludicrous, its SO long. The campsite is amazing though, the waterpark is ace for children and adults of all ages, although they are very strict on speedo shorts. I would highly recommend, I wouldn't book bedding as you could nip to the local Lidl and buy some for cheaper.
We had a great experience, considering we were from the USA and knowing very little French . Like zero French The help was great and the ground crew esp !, William Needling , they were all fabulous. We waited our turn for the receptionist . Thy had a lot of info to give us ,and get familiar with . Not knowing the language, they spoke English and answered a lot of questions we had . But our service time was very reasonable considering how much this location has to offer . We needed much in way of information and basic helping hand . We also went to the Aquatic center located at the entrance road above the Park . Which you can get also a discount fee into the facility . I would recommend at least one day there, it was wonderful!. Not to diminish the parks resources. They have so much for the kids and adults also . Our children loved it all . We had 7 children ranging from 1-10 , when we needed a baby bottle William came to the rescue. This was so not in his scope of work . For us to be able to have the water areas and beach was heaven . The shopping around and in the near by city's was fantastic. Also the near by monasteries and abbeys and the closeness to Spain and the Pyrenees was a great value, if you have a car . I do recommend a car for it was a great advantage . The local buses where a big help and only a euro to use. It was a good value and on time . Go to the city port center and have lunch and walk the boardwalk . Our accommodations where all that we needed and very comfortable . We had 2 cabin homes and plenty of room . You need to provide the basics and there is a Lidl near by that was more than reasonable and had all that we needed . But our trip was made special by all the help William gave us and the wonderful memories we had there . Choosing this location was so worth the trip .
