The staff were friendly. The bar was good. Room had an odd smell. Carpet had mystery stains and lots of hair. Bed was good. A bearable choice if you’re getting an early ferry but very over priced.

What a horrible hotel I'm writing this at 2:15 am .. why, because there is a bloody big, unbalanced, noisy motorised fan directly above me in the roof. Not in the room, not doing anything useful, just thundering away. Its 30 degrees in the room, the windows (velux roof windows) are wide open to try to get cool. But the only thing being let in is the huge lights, so I'm in a flood lit room too. Possibly useful as the bed side light does not work The big air conditioning looking thing in the corner, well that's just another noisy thing. It doesn't cool, just blows the warm air around like a noisy, wheezy, asamatic. The shower pisses water everywhere except not on you, but there's no hairdryer so not getting wet is not an issue. Carpets are filthy, this matches the room, with paint from the turn of the century and holes in the walls are great decor choice. I'd have a beer but they can't serve after 9 unless you sit on the plastic chairs round the back with all the tables that need clearing. Keep away from the 2nd floor - especially 202 and the adjacent rooms if you want any rest. I think I'll go sleep in the car .. it'll be cooler, cleaner and quieter

Cancelled the booking at the last minute, which meant we couldn’t book anywhere else as we were arriving very late, after midnight (we notified them of our arrival between midnight and 1am). This left us stranded in the middle of the night with no realistic possibility of finding alternative accommodation as it was now the day after… excuse: the hotel was fully booked. Why didn’t they tell us before?? Why even allow us to book?

After almost 13 hours long drive on a warm and sunny day ( in August this year) I needed a good rest, which was not deemed to happen at the premises of this hotel. My family and I got a room just above the main entrance to the hotel, which appeared to be very noisy area until 1 - 2 a.m with drunk people yelling at each other. Within the space of 10 minutes from entering the room I found two massive spiders, one sitting just above my bed, and which I removed to the hallway of the hotel. While having shower it appeared that drainange system in the bathroom seemed partially blocked, which considering time of the day (almost midnight) was pointless to report. The hotel room we occupied looked very much worn out. I cannot recollect to stay in a hotel with so many stains on the carpet and furniture being so worn out. The positive side of this hotel is it's location, especially in the context of catching ferrry to Dover. I would not stop at this hotel again. Not recommended.

Admittedly, previous reviews had me skeptical- but other than the floors/carpet, I had a great stay - at small misunderstanding with booking was easily sorted - all staff were very friendly and very accommodating. Reception was 24hr which was very good Right on the doorstep of the DFDS Ferry terminal, so MEGA convinient after a midnight ferry. You get what you pay for, and this little place is very unsung. Triple room was a great and very welcome surprise to see!

Perfect for an overnight stop either after or before your ferry crossing. Everything is as you would want it. Yes I would and have stayed again.
