Absolutely shocking customer service. I would have given zero stars if I could. We rented a car from Avis in Paris, France. We forgot an iPhone in the car when we returned it, got in touch with them straight away, it was confirmed that the phone was found. However to this day (December 2022), SIX MONTHS LATER it has still not been returned to us. Emails remain unanswered. All efforts to resolve the situation are met with radio silence. Completely unacceptable.

Very disappointed with my recent experience with Avis. We rented a car on May 22 from Paris to Montpellier Gare Sud de France. The initial contract clearly stated a total amount of €314.65 for one day. We followed all the instructions given by the agency and returned the car the very same day at the Avis parking in Montpellier Gare Sud de France, leaving the keys in the designated key drop box before 20:30. A few days later, I was unexpectedly charged €397.08 because Avis incorrectly registered the rental as lasting two days instead of one. Thankfully, we took photos when returning the vehicle, including proof of the key drop with the time and date. I have already sent all documents and evidence by email, but so far I have received no real response apart from an automatic message. I have also spent hours trying to contact customer service by phone over several days, but the lines are always busy and nobody answers. Not receiving any actual response from Avis makes me feel like I have simply lost my money and that nothing will be done to fix a mistake that was clearly not ours. This situation is extremely frustrating because we respected all the return instructions and now have to spend time proving an error caused by the company itself.

Have been trying to reach these people by phone. Also general number not working. Hoping for no rip off by the time I return the car. I just want to check return time flexibility but after so many unanswered calls and the Avis Jingle for hours I’m giving up. Won’t use Avis again. Spoke to them when returning the car. Apparently they can only be reached at the number on the card they give out when picking up the card and only the “06” number. They weren’t very forthcoming and after 5 hours I still haven’t received the closing invoice from them so can’t check if I was charged anything, but they did already send out a customer satisfaction survey. I must say, the car was clean when we picked it up and the valet more than helpful so cannot fault him. UPDATE 08072026 Avis replied to this message to contact them by social media. I have looked and cannot find where. I am only able to use whatsapp but no idea how. Follow up: 4 days later, no invoice or end of rental report and no refund of deposit of 200€. Every number for Avis Belgium, France I have tried is not taking calls. May end up listening to some jingle only to be disconnected again. Unacceptable for such a big company that they cannot be reached or that my deposit is not released.

What an horrible experience!!! Never again at Avis. The Lady that received us ( Faïza ? ) was not welcoming at all. Cars in very bad condition, dirty inside and outside. Worst service I have ever seen at a Rental Car Service. Is it possible to give ZERO Stars at Google Maps??? Because even one Star is really too much in this case. NEVER AGAIN !!!

Be careful with Avis in France. The company makes extra charges after paying for your rental rate in your credit card. One week after with no explanation I was charged 2.5 days, they don’t answer the phone, and in the attention by email they tell you they don’t really know what the extra charges are from. Terrible, choose a different rental.

Aivs provided an unacceptable experience. Despite returning the car with a full tank, the company still charged extra for fuel. Additionally, they failed to return the deposit. Overall, it was a highly disappointing experience

Absolutely atrocious treatment from AVIS. No communication. We had a flat tyre outside Mont Saint- Michel. Treated really badly. Sent to Granville. AVIS office closed. Now in Saint Malo. Closed . Will not honour original contract. So we are stuck in St Malo!! Please do not use company.
