Wonderful castle to spend a relaxing week! Little green paradise in a small village very Provençal style. A lot of art around the building that I really appreciated and gave the place its own personality. The building is huge and the property inside offers so many possibilities for families, couples and also children. There is garden under the property with rabbits, a cute pig and chickens (all in an enclosure and not super close to the building, so no worries if you are scared or not interested). There is also a very beautiful pool to enjoy. Very nice villages around, like St Quentin de la Potiere, Uzes and half an hour from Nimes and one hour from Montpellier. The owners are super friendly and available to provide any help or answer questions or concerns. Pet friendly and also the owners have two wonderful dogs and a cat that you may during the day.
My stay at Château de Collias Hôtel 5 étoiles & Restaurant was wonderful. The hotel itself is very beautiful, with a lovely and well-kept garden. At check-in, an older gentleman manager helped me, and he was extremely kind and warm. The next day I had a problem with my rental car due to a tire issue. Because of the language barrier and some complications, I couldn’t manage to solve it on my own. Luckily, one of the staff, Brian, kindly helped me. He spent nearly an hour calling the rental companies and did his best until the problem was solved. Thanks to him, everything worked out. It was my good fortune that he was working there during my stay. A hotel with such caring and helpful staff speaks for itself!
We arrived after closing hour but no problem, very friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful lunch, good service, very tasteful food and very nice wines. Yes I recommend this secret hidden beautiful restored place to everyone
We had lunch in the bistro. The selection was limited but everyone had something they enjoyed. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were helpful, friendly, attentive, and cheerful (special mention to Mel for moving furniture to take our group pic for us). Disclaimer: we live in London, so our judgement on VFM is soewhat skewed. We thought the bill was very reasonable. The building is exquisite, and they make good use of its beauty. The setting is particularly delightful. The publicity doesn't do it justice. Downsides: lack of parking (in a very busy village), and absence low/no alcohol beers for drivers. So not much to gripe about.
A large party of us booked at the Bistrot de Bougainvilliers here. A disappointing and overpriced experience - a hostile reception from the maître de service, indifferent quality of the cooking, sloppy and unprofessional service - children were not served first, a long gap between serving people at the same table, no wine was poured or offered for tasting, just bottles plopped on the table. Portions as if it were a Michelin-star restaurant, but neither the taste nor the service justified the price. The only saving graces were friendly waiters and a lovely setting.
If you do not speak French do not stay here. The building is beautiful and the owners are so kind. However the following all occurred causing us to even consider disputing the hotel charge. 1) AC: the hotel advertised having AC. However it was unavailable in our upgraded room. Therefore we had to have our windows open. This wouldn’t have been an issue except our windows opened onto the balcony with people smoking chickens crowing at 6 am and workers building a path at 7 am every day. 2 ) Service: we sat at the pool an entire day. However no one came to offer us a drink food or anything else. 3) Dinner: this was our anniversary dinner at a Michelin star restaurant and cost 500 euro. However no one spoke English. Therefore we were ignored, didn’t know what we were eating and left to our own devices for a culinary experience. It was so disappointing. We have loved our 3 weeks in France and had amazing stays across the board with this exception. Please do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. You will be disappointed.
Experience could not have been more delightful. The castle has been tastefully restored, and the rooms are filled with wonderful little details, and incredibly charming. The young, but experienced chef, produces an inventive menu that delighted our palette. And over all wonderful experience with delicious food, a lovely environment, friendly service and gorgeous rooms.
Beautiful Chateau Hotel in a quiet town, an amazing find we somehow stumbled upon. Dinner was as delicious as it was beautiful. Service was perfect. Only just 15minutes off the highway it added on last unexpected surprise on an otherwise ordinary drive home from our holiday.
