We visited the Chateau Galliard, Amboise and had a wonderful tour in English. The guide was Justine, and she gave an excellent description in English language of the history of the Chateau, the people who lived there and the artistes who designed and built the Chateau and created its vast gardens. Justine was expecting to give a tour in French language, but willing to guide some Australians on a tour instead . She adapted brilliantly to English language. Thankyou for a wonderful afternoon. The highlight of our stay in Amboise. Thank you from Elizabeth & Chris
A lovely retreat from the bustling streets. A great place to wind down, to relax some in the seats with the birds, or watching the chateau. The interior is actually quite charming too, and make sure to have a little taste at the cafeteria. There is definitely potential for expansion however, since some of the gardens are still a bit plain.
Having a tour around was fantastic and the owner spent some time with us telling us about the property. Was amazed to know that such a huge property was almost unknown by anyone in Amboise and the archives with very little mentioned yet it was medieval and used by kings and Queens. Thanks to the staff and the very gracious owner amazing property and we will recommend to all of our customers.
This was a charming castle a little off the beaten path in the city. We were the only visitors in the castle at the time and it was nice being able to freely walk around without having to navigate other people. The gardens are well maintained as well as the house. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area and have time.
We recently visited and enjoyed our time at Château-Gaillard. This is an Italian style castle built by King Charles VIII near the end of the 15th-century. The property fell into decline in recent decades but was restored and opened to the public in 2014. We enjoyed the Château-Gaillard as well as the garden grounds and forest grounds as well. Had a pleasant walk along a couple of the designated trails on the property map provided when you purchase ticket at the entry. Around 60-90 minutes is sufficient to leisurely visit the property. Given proximity to the city centre, you can easily combine with visits to nearby Château du Clos Lucé and/or Château Royal d'Amboise wanting to see another castle or two on the day.
Chateau Gaillard is a gem of a chateau in a gorgeous peaceful setting in Amboise France. The gardens were lovely & the chateau had a very important history & has been preserved with great attention to detail. The guide to the property was nicely written & very interesting. We were able to visit Cheateau Clos Luce & then walk over to Chateau Gaillard. We loved Chateau Gaillard & would highly recommend it!
Lovely quiet little château with an important place in Scottish and French history. Wonderful restoration and certainly a worthwhile place to visit. Not too many visitors really enhanced our visit.
Lovely Chateau with so much history! We loved wandering around. The best part - no crowds! We recommend the freshly squeezed orange juice and a slice of homemade orange cake at the café.
