Avis
I chose the intensive course and it was not good at all. Always the same things and it seems you are not learning a lot. It also depends on the teacher you are with. The morning classes are good but they charge a lot for the « Après Midi » when the price it’s not worthy
I loved the Summer session I spent at this school. I really enjoyed both of my instructors. The only part I didn't like were the dorms that we stayed in. They were very far away from the school and not in a very interesting (or indeed pleasant) part of town. I would highly, highly recommend staying with a family while you attend. I really wish I would of done that. Other than that, I loved this place.
Education experience was very hit-or-miss for me because of the total lack of communication. Some of the teachers are really smart and creative and amazing, but some of them don't go far beyond textbook exercises and some of them are not even very nice to the students. Organizational difficulties, such as class starting five hours late with no announcement or communication to the students (or even the teachers), were common. I had a great experience with some of my teachers, but overall I can't recommend the school.
I attended 1988-1989 for my junior year abroad and it was the highlight of my college career. The level of French taught was excellent. I left fluent, even dreaming, in French. I went on to become a French interpreter for a major US airline. I hope to send my child there to improve her French.
The Institut de Touraine is the granddad of schools teaching French to foreigners for about a century. Housed in its own 3 storey 18th Century mansion in Old Tours, it has educated generations of Europeans of note and now, a very international body including the Far East and the Middle East. It is a large school with relationships with several international universities with its pluses and minuses. The large number of students means that you can get higher level courses not often seen in smaller schools; however, it can make for larger classes. The youthfulness of the students makes it a friendly place even for the more mature student.
In 1963 I attended french classes here and was very HAPPY here.My French was perfect and i could use it all my Life, working for a French Airline.i remember my elderly French teacher very well, bald headed and a moustache.Iwill never forget his teaching.
the best experience of my life
