It's very basic but clean. Tiny bathroom and a few funny smells from time to time.Lots of rules, breakfast has to be ordered the day before. There is very little else in the village so you need a car to be able to get around and eat out etc.

Hotel Claire Cottage is a lovely hotel in the Loire Valley - many chateaux are within easy driving distance. Plenty of free parking on site.|Rooms are of a good size , with comfortable beds and bedding, better lighting than a lot of the hotels we have stayed at, courtesy tray in room including bottles of water which were much appreciated, tv , en suite bathroom with walk in shower and complimentary toiletries. As we were at the far end of the hotel we found the free wi-fi sporadic, but that was easily sorted by going down in to the lounge area. |Buffet breakfast was excellent - great value for money : a great choice of cold meats and cheeses, hot scrambled eggs and bacon ,cereals, various breads, cakes , the largest pain au raisin and pain au chocolat I have ever seen (as big as my hand ....and very fresh and tasty.) jams, honey, syrup, fruit juices, hot drinks . Definitely worth having.|We had an evening meal on the first night : good choices available .The young waitress was attentive and friendly. |Sadly on the second night we were disappointed , which is a real shame as everything had been fine until then.: our entree arrived , and was very tasty. However we then sat at our table for a further hour without our main course being served , despite numerous tables around us (who arrived and placed their orders later than we did ) receiving their mains and even finishing them. We received no warning of a delay or reason why. Due to medication my husband takes he needs to eat at regular intervals so we eventually left the restaurant and ate snacks from our car. |One blip in out stay - but we would still return to this hotel.

This is a very tired looking hotel which is in need of refurbishment. We arrived about 10 minutes late and several of the dishes on the evening menu were not available. When asked if there were any vegetarian options an uninspiring cheese omelette was the only thing that chef could offer. The bedroom was poky with inadequate lighting. There was a kettle provided in the bedroom. The shower plug in the bathroom was unclean. There was only one staff member who was doing everything ie checking in, taking orders for dinner etc.

Very good service and kind reception. My friend and I arrived with bicycles, the host provided the garage for us. Room is clean, all equipment worked well. Not huge space (considering the price it’s reasonable) but very cozy and felt warm as home. Highly recommend.

I’m writing this review really to apologise for my rude and unpleasant behaviour on checkout. It’s extremely embarrassing to realise that the issue I was complaining about was entirely due to my ignorance regardless my behaviour was unacceptable and I am very sorry. The issue was simply that we arrive in the evening and I asked for the price for a room for two adults and the dog. She quoted me €74 and even wrote it down on a piece of paper. In the morning the man-I assume they are coproprietors - set up the bill to include the €1 tourist tax +€9 for the dog. for some reason I was extremely upset about this, even though in the grand scheme of things it’s not very much money. I made a horrible scene during which I said so much the French hospitality and he said so much for English test and they also called me a bastard which I probably deserved. it was only after my wife had paid in embarrassment that I spoke to a family with a dog outside and they confirmed what the Hotel has been saying was true that if there’s a government tax at the hotel has no control over therefore I understand why they had to insist and perhaps why they didn’t mention this on checking it was our first room in France with the dog so so I didn’t know, but that’s no excuse. as for the hotel, rooms are very good for the price the only negatives I would say is that the walls are extremely thin and the reception smells very musty and damp. This was why I checked the room which didn’t smell at all, so advice to the owners of the hotel used to air out the reception to give a much better impression of the place overall. I think it must be very stressful for them because they did seem really unhappy from the evening and also in the morning no smiles no please or thank you et cetera so probably a very busy period which I obviously made much worse and was very negative.

We chose this hotel as a last minute stop over on our return journey through France. ||The hotel is easy to find : has plentiful free parking: we were given a spacious and bright room with a double bed plus a single bed : complimentary bottled water , coffee, mini biscuits , toothbrush and toothpaste, razor and toothpaste. ||We booked on a "half board" basis and realised that many hotels then just offer a set menu ....however here we were encouraged to choose whatever we wanted from the extensive menu. Food is freshly cooked and served .||The breakfast buffet choice is the most extensive we had been offered during our three weeks in France - we were very impressed . ||Immediately from the hotel there is a peaceful cycle/walking path alongside the river ...... and nearby is the wonderful town of Amboise.||We will definitely return here in the future, staying longer so we can explore more of the Loire Valley and its Chateaux. ||

Lovely big room with comfy beds and good quality bedding. Very clean hotel. Staff were very helpful in every aspect. Dinner on the terrace was excellent. Great breakfast followed a good night’s sleep.||A lovely quiet location with plenty of parking.
