Had a great time at Jazz à Vienne! The roman amphitheatre is stunning and very tall/steep which really adds to the ambiance. I was jealous of the other festival goers who brought pillows and blankets to sit on as it does get pretty rough after being there for 4 hours, next time will do so! I came in by train from Lyon which is offered at a discounted price for the festival. It takes about 20-30 minutes and the amphitheatre is very easy to find after a 10min walk from the train station. Also to note: I brought an empty reusable water bottle with me that they asked to keep in a separate area and to pick it up after the concert - didn't bother me but was a bit confused at first since this was the first time I see a festival doing this.
Excellent festival from the likes of Fatoumata Diawara to Gregory Porter. What a venue the amphitheater is. Stunning backdrop to the town. Staff were super friendly and the bus service to the car park was well organised.
Went 3 nights running. Great music and atmosphere. Amazingly good value for a 3 night ticket.
Great place, excellent performance, beautiful town.
Impressive festival program, terrific sound quality. Nice but really big theater. So go early to find parking space in the nearby parkings and most importantly to find a good seat because you can not reserve a seat in advance.
I have seen countless concerts during Jazz à Vienne over the years. It's a unique experience to be sitting in that Roman amphitheatre on a summer night to watch a performance. The atmosphere, view and acoustic are just perfect. The line-up is also spot on and all the greats have performed at least once at Jazz à Vienne. A must do for any music fan.
