Amazing memorial to the soldiers massacred by the Germans. Very quiet, only saw one other person. It’s very humbling to read about what happened here and how the site has developed since the war. Google maps takes you to a small carpark and then you walk along a path to the memorial. Very well maintained.
Anyone who is interested in the evacuation at Dunkirk will find this interesting. This is the site where 100 soldiers who had been fighting a rear guard action against the Germans (SS) to protect the beaches were captured and massacred ( Barn ), and a few escaped to tell the tale. However, 80 lost their lives, and this memorial does them justice. We will remember them.
Moving and simple memorial dedicated to the memory of British soldiers massacred by the SS in 1940. Off the beaten track but worth the detour.
Unbelievable when the guide explains what happened to our brave soldiers on this site. Between 70 to 100 men killed by an SS division with machine guns and grenades after surrendering.
