The statue is located in the park named after Albert the First (former king of Belgium), and it commemorates a century since the first annexation of Nice (Nizza) by France during French Revolution. The area around this monument is used for the Christmas Fair and the Nice Jazz Festival. The statue of Victory goddess Nike at the top symbolizes the name of the city that was founded by ancient Greek colonizers!
Even night is better. It was cozy stroll through:) with nice view.
We couldn’t get close to the statue because of an event happening nearby. Bit of a shame, but still nice to see from a distance.
While exploring Castle Hill in Nice, I found myself at the cemetery monument and it completely shifted my mood. I was surrounded by intricate tombs and statues, each telling a quiet story, and the view over the city was simply breathtaking. I hadn’t planned to stop here long, but I ended up staying, just taking it all in. It’s one of the most peaceful and unexpectedly powerful places I visited in Nice.
The monument was built to commemorate Nice’s annexation into France. It overlooks on the water front.
Orchestre de l harmonie gives free concerts here on Sundays at 15.30. Seating provided by the town of Nice. Very pleasant
Beautiful monument on the main promenade.
Preparing for an event today… so cannot get closer but the walk along the sea is equally nice 👍🏼.
