Great location and an incredibly efficiently run property. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and there is a terrific vibe in the lobby with entertainment, a solid food bar, and a great communal kitchen setup. The room itself worked out completely fine. The only recommendation I'd highly suggest for management is providing extra floor towels or paper towels in the bathrooms. With backpackers constantly splashing water everywhere, the bathroom floors really need some extra padding or matting to keep things clean and dry
Great hostel, would be five stars if there was no mold in kitchen/showers and they had free luggage storage. I think it would be better to have the sink separated from the main room with a door as well because it's quite loud when someone uses it. Overall cleanliness was great, just some silicone in the kitchen needs renewal and the shower ceiling had a weird pattern which could have been mold. Great common areas and rooms. We could not open the windows at all unfortunately.
I had a very pleasant stay at the MEININGER Hotel Marseille Centre La Joliette. The hotel is modern, clean, and well located, making it a great base for exploring Marseille. The rooms were comfortable, nicely designed, and had everything needed for a short city trip. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, and the overall atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. I also appreciated the common areas, which were stylish and practical. The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that the room could have been a little quieter at night, and breakfast had room for more variety. Overall, a very good value-for-money hotel that I would definitely consider staying at again when visiting Marseille.
We were very impressed by the friendliness consideration and courtesy of the receptionist staff particularly Catalina. |I am elderly and disabled and your staff allocated me the disability room which I had requested. |We found the hotel facilities excellent particularly the kitchen where we were able to prepare our own food. |We were also impressed by the spaciousness of the hotel. Everything worked and everywhere was very clean. |This was our first experience of your hotel.|We travel widely and extensively and we have decided to seek out your hotel at other locations to which we will travel. |Thank you for an excellent stay and an excellent experience.|Richard Reddy and wife|Room 505 |Marseilles
We stayed at MEININGER Hotel Marseille for a weekend trip and overall had a good experience. We were a group of 5, so we booked a room for five people, which worked really well for us. The room was nice, very clean, and looked recently renovated. The design was modern and pleasant, and the bathroom was perfectly clean, which we really appreciated. The temperature in the room was adjustable and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. There’s also a gaming area in the hotel, which is a fun plus if you want to relax or hang out. A couple of small points to improve. Check-in is a bit late at 3 pm, and even though we arrived earlier, it wasn’t possible to access the room before that. Also, luggage storage is not free, you have to pay to store your bags, which felt a bit unusual compared to most hotels. Lastly, the windows in the room could use a better cleaning. As for the location, it’s decent, not too far from the Old Port and conveniently close to the train station. Overall, a pleasant stay with a few improvements needed.
Clean and cheap. We initially used them for their luggage storage service, but due to our train getting cancelled, we ended up staying the night in Meininger. The staff was polite and accommodating. The rooms was a bit of a squeeze, and the beds were a bit too small for comfort, but it was spotless.
Good value for money, with clean, spacious rooms and well-maintained common areas. The garden is a great spot to relax, and amenities like the laundry machines and shared kitchen are very convenient. Staff was friendly overall. However, the main downside was the frequent presence of large groups of young guests who often arrived late at night (after 11 p.m.) and made a lot of noise, which affected our rest. The bar also lacked clear and consistent opening hours—having visible, fixed times would improve the experience. There were quite a few homeless and drunk people around the area (closer to the main road) so the area didn’t feel completely safe during the night. Breakfast was acceptable for the price, though some items could be improved in quality and presentation. Additionally, the windows were quite dirty upon arrival. Overall, a decent stay for the price, but better organisation and clearer structure between hotel and hostel atmosphere would make a big difference.
